On July 6, 2012, news of the natural disaster that befell Krymsk appeared in the media. On this day, heavy rains were falling in the sunny town, the level of precipitation was twice as high as normal. But the tragedy itself broke out a little later, on the night of July 6-7.
The small town of Krymsk was practically destroyed by a natural disaster, the water level in the streets in some places reached the second floor of buildings. The stream swept away everything in its path: houses, cars, garages. A large number of people died. On July 7, many media outlets began to tell about the incident. From that day on, humanitarian aid began to flow to Krymsk from many cities and countries.
Even Barack Obama offered to help rebuild the buildings, but the Russian president backed out of such a lavish gesture, arguing that Russia itself is able to cope with the consequences of the natural disaster.
Humanitarian aid came from the Stavropol Territory, Moscow and the region, Adygea, Voronezh, Karachay-Cherkessia, Belgorod, North Ossetia (they were the first to bring drinking water to the city), Dagestan, Krasnodar, Tatarstan, Kazan and many other countries and settlements.
Kindergartens and schools were assisted by preschool educational institutions of the Kalinin region. They sent in large quantities of bed linen, dishes, towels and cleaning products, and provided substantial financial aid to the victims. 300 gas stoves and 150 refrigerators were delivered from Belarus. The traffic police department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the traffic police platoon of the traffic police of the city of Anapa also helped people affected by the emergency, they provided humanitarian aid and money.
Representatives of show business have not spared trouble either. For example, Tina Kandelaki visited Krymsk, bringing with her two trucks of humanitarian aid: one with cots and mattresses, the other with tools for repairing houses.
Bishop Panteleimon of Smolensk and Vyazemsk also paid a visit to the affected city. He personally helped many families whose homes were destroyed by water. In addition, volunteers constantly worked in the city, who cleaned the city, carried away the corpses of animals, and helped to repair buildings. More than 50 field kitchens and canteens worked on the territory of the Crimean region, they provided completely free meals for the residents of the city.
In total, during the restoration of the city, more than 100 tons of humanitarian aid were received: drinking water, bedding, food, detergents, baby food, household equipment and others. And the flood victims fund raised more than 200 million rubles. On July 16, the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations V. Puchkov asked not to send humanitarian aid to Krymsk anymore.
