Step 1
Few people today know that getting a passport is easy and simple, just apply for it on the online public services portal. Initially, you need to get official access to the portal of public services, for this you need to go through the registration procedure. It is mandatory to consent to access to personal information and its processing, you will also need to choose a method of how to confirm your identity when authorizing. The portal will offer several ways on how to do this, but the most popular is the activation code sent by mail using the Russian Post.
Step 2
Having received the activation code, you need to complete the registration on the portal. For this, personal data, contact phone number, e-mail are entered. After setting the password and answering the security question, you must wait for an e-mail and SMS with a code to confirm your email address and phone number. The code for activating your personal account will be sent by paper letter through the Russian Post.
Step 3
Choose what kind of passport you want to get. New passports today are biometric, their validity is 10 years, the cost is higher. An old-style passport is valid for only 5 years, it has fewer degrees of protection, but it costs less. The procedure for obtaining both one and the other is not much different, the registration process is the same.
Step 4
After registration, you need to fill out an online application. Information about yourself and your relatives should only be reliable, as they are being verified. Next, you should upload a file with a photo and do not forget to save the questionnaire in your documents before sending it. If errors are found there in the process, you do not have to fill out everything completely again.
Step 5
Go to the FMS website, find and print a receipt for payment of the state duty for a passport. Pay for it at any branch of Sberbank. The receipt will then need to be submitted to the OVIR along with a package of prepared documents. If you need to get a passport in Moscow, then you need to pay the state duty in the same place, in other settlements this cannot be done. The amount of the fee depends on the type of passport, so 1000 rubles are charged for an old-style passport, 2500 for a new biometric one. Children's passports for citizens under 14 cost 300 rubles and 1200 rubles, respectively.
Step 6
After the system has processed all the data, an e-mail will be sent with a message about the acceptance of the application. When the passport is ready, an invitation will be sent with the address where you need to come and get the document in your hands. There will also be a list of the originals of which documents are required to be provided.
