Everyone has probably heard about the legendary French foreign legion, which has 170 years of history. But what it is exactly, few know. As the name implies, foreigners are hired there, who then serve in the interests of France. The term of the contract is 5 years, it is not necessary to know French for enrollment, it will be taught on the spot. Legionnaires do not necessarily participate in hostilities, there are also many peaceful tasks, for example, guarding the French cosmodrome in Guiana. But they can certainly send soldiers to war.
Instructions
Step 1
In different cities of France there are reception points for the foreign legion. It is enough just to contact one of them on Sunday or Tuesday (because the dispatch to Aubagne, where the legion is based, takes place on Monday and Wednesday). Moreover, this can be done even after arriving in France on a tourist voucher. Here is the address and telephone number of the Paris office - Paris 94120, Fontenay-sous-Bois - Fort de Nogent, telephone: 01 49 74 50 65.
Step 2
In front of the recruiting station, where the military unit is located, there is a guard. If you don't know the language well, you can just come close to it and be silent. The Legionnaire will ask you about your nationality. You will have to answer “Rus” and present your passport. Then you will be allowed inside, searched and conducted an initial medical examination. The procedure takes up to 4-5 days. All this time you will live in a military unit, get up at 5 am, clean up, help in the kitchen. The discipline is very tough, if you break something or refuse to obey, get a slap or do push-ups for a long time.
Step 3
Then, if you come up at first glance, you will be sent to Aubagne, the Legion's headquarters near Marseilles. There - again a search, settling, distribution of clothes and toiletries, work. In parallel, you will undergo additional tests - a full physical examination, physical fitness check, tests for intelligence, reaction speed, attention and mental health.
Step 4
As for the physical requirements, you need to be able to do push-ups 30 times, sit down 50 times, run 2800 meters in 12 minutes, climb without legs on a 6-meter rope. The rest depends on your state of health and efficiency. Then - an interview in 3 stages, where you will be asked about your biography. Better to tell the truth, there are verification techniques.
Step 5
If you have successfully passed all the tests, you will be offered a 5-year contract. Then it can be extended if desired. After 4 years of service, you can apply for French citizenship, after 15 you earn the right to a pension, which is paid until the end of the days.
