Famous American writer and screenwriter Michael Chabon was born on May 24, 1963. He penned many English-language works, some of which were translated into Russian.
Biography
The birthplace of Michael Chabon was Washington. Michael grew up in a Jewish family of lawyers. Unfortunately, his parents divorced when Michael was young. Chabon was educated at the University of Pittsburgh. He also graduated from the University of California. Michael received a 2001 Pulitzer Prize nomination for his novel The Incredible Adventures of Cavalier and Clay. Seven years later, he won two prestigious literary awards at once - Hugo and Nebula - for his book The Union of Jewish Policemen. Chabon was also nominated for the American Literary Award.

Several books by Michael Chabon have been published in Russian. In 2005, the St. Petersburg publishing house "Amphora" presented to readers his novel "The Secrets of Pittsburgh". In the same year, his book "Prodigies" was published. In 2006 the Russian-language version of his novel "The Adventures of the Cavalier and Clay" was published. The plot tells the story of the life of two Jewish cousins: Czech artist Joe Cavaliero and writer Sammy Clay. The action takes place both before, during and after World War II.
In 2008, a translation of his novel "The Union of Jewish Policemen" was published. This is a detective story that is gracefully inscribed in an alternate historical reality. The novel is set against the premise that there was a settlement for Jewish refugees in Alaska during World War II. The author also makes the assumption that in 1948 the state of Israel was destroyed. The novel is set in Alaska. The book won the Locus Award for Best Science Fiction Novel. In 2008, the Coen brothers announced their strong desire to film this wonderful book.
In 2008 Michael Chabon publishes the article "The Game Begins". The idea of the article came to him in connection with the release of a new annotated edition of "Sherlock Holmes".
