I wonder where is the fine line that separates a decent act from a dishonest one? What personal properties do you need to possess in order to be considered a person in modern society endowed with such a vanishing quality as decency?

What is decency

Decency, like everything that exists in our world, is a rather subjective concept. And although many inquisitive minds have already managed to independently characterize the term of decency in dictionaries, psychological treatises, personal blogs, on forums, each person is free to color this word in his own shade, depending on his own feelings, the level of personality development, mood and many other circumstances. In the philistine sense, honesty is called honesty, which closely borders on the observance of moral norms accepted in society. In other words, a decent person must observe a strict moral code that does not allow committing an illegal, vicious, base deed. But this is just a theory. What happens in practice? We all grow up in society, therefore decency is an acquired mental property of a person. Parents, educators and teachers have a tremendous influence on the establishment of ethical standards in a child's head. An important role is given to the media, television, books, magazines. Do not forget about the child's friends and acquaintances, communication with whom, year after year, transforms his personality. Perhaps a certain percentage of the human character is karmic and depends on the date of birth, but the most important thing is that only a person himself can choose for himself the path of cultivating decency, or he can decide to get rid of it as if it were unnecessary ballast. Your integrity and decency depends on the smallest daily choice. It is impossible to become a decent person without painstaking work on yourself. It is important to control not only your actions, but also your thoughts. In order not to be considered, but to really be decent, you need to try to bring love, creativity, harmony into the world, anxiously protecting it from negativity. But can absolutely sinless, ideal people live on our planet? Yes, a person can strive to perform decent deeds, but he is unlikely to come close to the standard decency. That decency, which is forever frozen in memoirs, book images. Life is harder than books. Probably, real decency still lies in living with your mind, your own heart, and not imposed stereotypes, because you cannot be honest with others if you are not in tune with yourself.
