Throughout its history, the Church has come under constant attack from atheists and agnostics. And one of the claims made by the dark people to the church is reproach that it takes money from the parishioners.
Non-believers are considered atheists. Agnostics do not consider themselves to be either believers or unbelievers. Agnostics call themselves doubters. They are the ones who constantly criticize the church.
Why does the church need money
It is surprising that this question is asked by precisely those people who do not have faith and do not go to church. This raises a counter question: what difference does it make to them? But since there is a question, then there must be an answer. In every church and temple there are shops in which parishioners buy candles, icons, books, and also serve notes containing treasures.
Requirements in Christianity are called human needs for God and saints, expressed through the mention of oneself or the names of relatives. Most often, parishioners submit requests for health, that is, when they want to pray for their health. Requests for the repose of the dead are also served, so that they can pray for their souls.
Requirements also have their own value, like church candles and books. And this is understandable and easy to explain. The point is that the church is not funded by the state.
The church lives on donations from parishioners. And if she does not receive this money, then funds will not fall from the sky.
Household philosophy
And if you are still wondering why the church needs money, then think, why do you need money, why does a person need money in general? A person wants to be well-fed and dressed, otherwise his life will end.
Now tell me, how can you get all this without money? The answer is no way. That's right, in order to eat, you have to pay for the groceries. To get dressed, you need to pay for the clothes. And in order for the apartment to have electricity, gas, water and heat, you need to pay for utilities. The same applies to the church. There are also people who serve the church and who need to eat and dress.
The church needs to pay its gas, electricity, heat and water bills. The church needs to buy food to feed the poor and homeless. She needs money to buy candles or wax to make them.
The church does not sell goods as this is not a store. The church performs Christian rituals and sacraments.
There is one more question that is often asked by the same agnostics: if the Holy Scripture says to live ascetic, why do the holy fathers neglect it? The Church has only one voice: do not judge, and you will not be judged. However, for the suffering there is another explanation: in sketes, monasteries and parishes, the clergy do not live according to worldly rules, they do not allow themselves luxury, although they are not alien to the benefits of civilization. The church today cannot be divorced from progress, this is a requirement of the time, and therefore the presence of a car for fast movement, the Internet for effective communication, and coming for meetings is still necessary.
