People's Artist of the Soviet Union Alexei Denisovich Dikiy was born on February 24, 1889 in a bourgeois family. Parents lived in the famous city of Yekaterinoslav, which is currently renamed Dnipro. The actor's father bore the name Dikov. As was customary in the theatrical environment, Alexei took a pseudonym under which he lived his entire creative life.
