Biography facts
The future famous violinist was born in the winter of 1967 in the USA. His father was a psychologist and psychotherapist, professor emeritus at Indiana University Bloomington. Mom also devoted her life to psychology. The parents' favorite hobby was classical music. They instilled this love in their son.
Joshua began studying music at the age of four. For the first time, his mother noticed his interest when she saw that the boy pulled elastic bands between the chairs and tables, as if they were strings, and tried to play them, pretending to be a musician. After that, the parents bought him a small violin and sent the child to a music school.
But music wasn't Joshua's only hobby. He was actively involved in sports and even became the champion of the national tennis tournament.
While in a sports camp, the boy loved to listen to classical music before going to bed. Someone from his acquaintances presented him with a cassette on which the performance of one of the most famous violinists J. Heifetz was recorded. Upon hearing the musician, Joshua was shocked by his performance. And then he decided that he wanted to become the same great violinist and perform on the stage of the best concert halls in the world.
Joshua began taking violin lessons from the renowned music teacher and violinist Joseph Gingold. Parents had to persuade Joseph to take their son for training for a long time. The teacher wanted to be sure that the boy himself chose the violin, no one is forcibly forced to study music. Convinced that Joshua really wants to learn how to play, Gingold took him to his apprentices.
Bell continued his musical education at Indiana University, graduating in 1989. After that, Joshua went to New York, where he continued to study music professionally.
