The birth of a stellar team
The year of birth of the team was 2003. Marc Collin and Olivier Libault became the leaders of the French group.
The band got the name "Nouvelle Wag" in honor of the musical movement of the 70s and 80s and the local cinema of the 60s. The performance of the songs was usually entrusted to session soloists.
This role was played by Phoebe Killdeer, Melanie Payne and Miranda. Each managed to become popular, it is not surprising that then they all chose a solo career.
2004 became a landmark, the time of the release of the first disc. We worked on the disc with the whole group, and the vocalists were Eloisia, Camilla and Melanie, singers who had never heard the proposed compositions. This technique ensured the freshness of the sound. The disc also includes updated versions of the singles that fans have already liked. The acoustic basis was complemented by dance rhythms.
New peaks
The success allowed the team to gain a foothold in the British charts. For 30 weeks, the group remained in the top 200. At the same time the presentation of the new collection "Bande a Part" took place. He ensured a hit not only in the national charts of France, but also introduced performers to the charts of other states. In 2008, a longplay was recorded with retro-stylized soundtracks from films of the eighties.
The vocalists' compositions were performed not only by French ones. Singers from Australia and Brazil were invited to record. "Live Au Caprices Festival" appeared in 2009. The success of the album led to the release of a record with remakes of French songs. The cover of "Putain Putain" was performed by Camilla, who returned to the band.
The band presented the next composition "Best Off", which became an integral part of the disc with previously unreleased material. It was this song that served as a springboard: after it, "Nouvelle Vague" was at the peak of fame.
Plans and their implementation
New tracks could not repeat such a triumph. Therefore, the team decided to take a break. Concerts and recordings in the studio have been postponed. According to Collin, the musicians gave both listeners and critics a break from covers.
The break ended in 2012 with the appearance of the track "I Could be Happy". Then the fans were presented with a new interpretation of "Altered Images". Four years later, the jubilee disc "Athol Brose" was presented in EP format.
A documentary film "Nouvelle vague by Nouvelle vague and Some Friends" was filmed about the band's work, which included remixes of earlier recordings.
The group announced the decision to resume work in the studio in 2019. In an interview, the head admitted that fans will soon be able to hear surprises prepared for them. Until the "X hour" the information will be kept in the strictest confidence. We only managed to find out that the work on the creation of new tracks is in full swing.
