Childhood, adolescence

Philip Egorov was born on June 8, 1978 in the city of Orel. Little is known about his childhood. Philip grew up in an ordinary family, attended school, but from childhood he was fond of sports. He liked to play with the boys in the yard, skate on ice. This led the talented boy to such a sport as bobsleigh. Egorov admitted in an interview that he could not take part in singles competitions. Team games have always attracted him much more. In them, you can count on the help of comrades in difficult times and provide support yourself. Everything is complicated in a team, but this makes the competition interesting.

Philip finished school well, combining sports and studies, and then began to train hard. He tried to enter a higher educational institution, but due to a busy schedule, he could not pay the necessary attention to the preparation. It was possible to enter on the second attempt. Philip graduated from the university in 2001, having studied at the Department of Physical Culture and Sports.

Career

Philip Yegorov was involved in several sports, but in the end he settled on bobsleigh. He trained in his native Oryol, but when it became clear that the athlete showed great promise, he began to travel to the capital for training camps. His coach Alexander Rybalov admitted that he immediately saw a huge potential in young Philip.

Bobsleigh is a rather difficult sport and it was not always possible to train in Oryol, but Yegorov managed to bring his skills to a high level. In games, he played the role of overclocking.

The transition to coach Oleg Sokolov was fateful for Philip. New opportunities opened up before him. Since 2000, he began to take part in serious competitions. At the Russian championships, he won prizes as part of his team. In 2004, he took part in the World Championships and won the gold medal in the two.

The coach characterizes Philip as an unusually talented, courageous player who is not alien to the feeling of team spirit.

During his sports career, Egorov received many awards in the fours, including:

  • gold medal at the Russian championship (2001)
  • bronze medal of the Russian championship (2004);
  • silver medal of the Russian championship (2000, 2003, 2004).

In bob starts, he also managed to win awards:

  • gold medal of the Russian championship in the four (2001);
  • gold medal of the world championship in the team of two (2004);
  • bronze medals of the world championships in the two (2000, 2001, 2004).

In 2006, Philip Egorov took part in the Olympic Games in Turin. As part of the four, he won a silver medal. It was a truly epoch-making event. Egorov still recalls how, after the results were announced, he went into the locker room and cried with happiness. This was the first medal in this sport in Russia. Athletes from the Oryol region managed to do the almost impossible.

Egorov does not remember the awards ceremony well, because he could not believe what was happening. After that, a press conference was held, at which everyone was interested in his state of health. During the game, Philip hit his head hard, but he was saved by a protective helmet.

The Olympics itself and the organization of the games made an indelible impression on the athlete. He didn't like everything. Philip Yegorov complained about the Italian cuisine that was not familiar to him and the bad roads leading to the Olympic village. Getting to the training site was a big problem. But all these minor misunderstandings could not spoil the great joy of victory.

After the Olympics in 2006, Philip Egorov had big plans, but, unfortunately, he no longer took part in games of this level. The athlete continues to train and train the younger generation. He is active in teaching and admits to having great pleasure in coaching.

Egorov was awarded the title of Honored Master of Sports of Russia, and in 2007 he was awarded the Order of Friendship for his great contribution to the development of physical culture and sports.

In an interview, Egorov admitted that he does not consider it very deserved that the overclocking drivers are in the shadow of the bobsled pilots. But he still would not want to become a pilot, although there were such cases in the history of this sport. Philip has no doubts about his own importance. He assures that without strong accelerators in bobsled it is difficult to achieve high results. They must be well developed physically, hardy. Indeed, during the game, it will be useful not only to push a heavy bob, but also to load and unload it.

Personal life

Philip Egorov does not like to advertise his personal life. He believes that an athlete should be engaged in improving his professional skills, and not trying to gain fame through high-profile scandals.

Philip has a wife and a child. Egorov is proud of his son and does not exclude the possibility that he will follow in his footsteps. There is a little fear for your child, because bobsleigh is not the safest sport. On the other hand, it educates well, builds character. Egorov is a rather versatile person. His interests are not limited to sports. Philip loves music and even plays a little musical instruments. The love for this kind of art was instilled in him by his mother, who was professionally engaged in music.
