Ernst Theodor Amadeus Hoffmann was a very original personality. Everything was mixed in his character. Passionate, intemperate, indulging in night drinking and revelry, the satyr in the morning turned out to be a reasonable person and a business lawyer.

Ernst Theodor Amadeus Hoffmann is a versatile person, a talented German composer and artist, a world famous romantic writer. His works, not appreciated by his contemporaries, inspired many famous people to create their own masterpieces.

Childhood

In 1776, a joyful event took place in the family of lawyer Christoph Ludwig Hoffmann - a son was born on January 24. At this time, the family lived in the Prussian city of Königsberg (modern Kaliningrad). The child was baptized as Ernst Theodor Wilhelm. When he grew up, he changed his third name - as a sign of love for Mozart - to the name Amadeus.

The baby lived in a cozy home environment for only 3 years, and then his father and mother divorced. And his mother's grandmother took up his upbringing. The boy studied at a Reformed school, and already in childhood he showed musical and artistic talent. The development of the boy's character and abilities was greatly influenced by his uncle. He, like his father, was engaged in jurisprudence, but he was a gifted person, mystically inclined.

Education and career

In 1792, when choosing a profession, the young man also followed the path of the servants of Themis. After graduating from the University of Königsberg in 1800, Ernst begins his judicial career in the Polish city of Poznan. Two years later, because of the caricature of those in power, the young employee was transferred to the town of Plock. While in forced exile, Hoffmann studies composition, writes church music and strives to break out of isolation with all his might. In 1804 he succeeds, and together with his family (he is already married), Hoffmann moved to Warsaw.

At the end of one thousand eight hundred and sixth year, the troops of the Emperor Napoleon enter the city, state institutions are closed. Ernst Theodor Amadeus Hoffmann is unemployed and really takes on music. Under the pseudonym Johann Kreisler, he writes sonatas, operas, and ballets. From 1808 to 1815 he tried himself as a conductor, worked as a conductor in Leipzig, Dresden, engaged in music criticism in the "Universal Musical Gazette", and gave private lessons. But, alas, this does not bring big earnings, and the family has to interrupt.

Literary creativity

In 1816, Hoffmann is offered a position in Berlin, and he resigns himself to serving for money. But there is no more need, and he devotes all his free time to literary work. It was then that masterpieces were created that brought the author world fame. Hoffmann finished his novel Elixirs of Satan in 1815, and the collection The Brothers of Serapion in 1820. At the same time, he works on small works: stories, fairy tales, short stories. The author has been writing the two-volume book "Life views of Murr the cat" for about 3 years. After finishing work at the end of 1821, his beloved cat dies. This has a disheartening effect on Hoffmann. In 1822, the writer was already very sick, but he was finishing the novel Lord of the Fleas, which, with its sharp satire, irritated the members of the government. The work will be published in full only in 1906.

Personal life

Hoffmann's personal life was rich and interesting. Even while studying at the university, earning money as a musician, the young man enters into a relationship with his student Dora the Hutt. This beautiful woman was much older than him and had a husband and five children. The lovers have been dating for several years. Relatives try to reason with the ardent lover and send Ernst to Glogau to his maternal uncle. The young man occasionally, but continues to come to his beloved. The last meeting takes place in 1797. Ernst finally heeded his relatives' requests and was engaged to his cousin Minna Dörfer.

Nine years after his marriage, Hoffman falls passionately in love with the young girl he teaches vocals to, Julia Mark. Misha finds out about this and is very jealous of her husband. Hoffmann is simply going crazy with love and contemplating suicide. The relatives of the young girl are urgently looking for a worthy groom for Julia, arrange an engagement, and then a wedding. The suffering Hoffmann writes the mystical story Don Juan, the brilliant music for the opera Aurora. In these works, his pain because of unrequited love finds a way out. His mind was sharp and noticed the funny and funny sides of life. With such a healthy mind, he was all filled with mysticism, demonism and fantastic images. In 1822, Hoffmann died, he was only forty-six years old. Six months before his death, he courageously fought the disease and constantly worked, trying to finish everything he had begun. On June 25, he was gone. But he lives in his works, where there is no calmness, where fantasy is intertwined with humor, where gloomy images burst into the modern world and excite the reader.
