Sharip Umkhanov was born far from the centers of musical culture, but his creativity entered his life from an early age. He mastered the guitar himself. And he got information about music from those books that he could get in his native Chechen village. The star of the performer rose when he moved to Moscow, where he got a chance to acquaint the audience of the show "The Voice" with his work.
From the biography of Sharip Umkhanov
The future Russian singer was born on March 29, 1981 in the village of Tolstoy-Yurt, near Grozny. Umkhanov is a Chechen by nationality. In his youth, he was fond of musical compositions of the cult group Scorpions. He mastered playing the guitar himself, tried to sing. He drew his knowledge of music from the few books he found in his village - there was no music school nearby.
During the so-called second Chechen war, Sharip, who had graduated from high school by that time, managed to work on a construction site. And after hard work, he diligently studied music. And even managed to perform. The Chechen guy had a dream - he wanted to become a professional performer. And to achieve his cherished goal, Sharip was ready to work with anyone. However, Umkhanov understood that in order to achieve a high level of skill, he could not do without an appropriate education.
In 2003, Umkhanov became a student at the University of Culture and Arts located in Krasnodar. He chose the department of music education. Sharip took part in creative contests more than once. In the 4th year of study he became "Student of the Year".
Further singer's career
Sharip left the walls of the university in 2008. And he went to the capital of Russia. Here Umkhanov again had to remember his skills as a builder. But Umkhanov devoted all his free time to music. He sang songs, playing along with his guitar. Over time, the young performer's repertoire included not only rock, chanson, but also opera works.
Soon Umkhanov was invited to perform in clubs. More than once he became a guest at corporate parties. He sang in restaurants too. Once he had an accident at a construction site. Having suffered a broken leg, Sharip decided to quit his job and focused entirely on music.
After a performance in one of the elite clubs of the capital, Umkhanov was noticed by the composer E. Kobylyansky, who had previously successfully worked with G. Leps. The artist began to cooperate with record companies. Gaining experience bit by bit, Sharip Isaevich gained confidence, made plans for the future.
And Umkhanov gained wide popularity when in 2013 he took part in the qualifying round of the famous all over the country show "The Voice". The singer, who chose the composition Scorpions for his performance, won the favor of the judges of the competition from the first seconds. A. Gradskiy became Sharip's mentor, who highly appreciated the talent of the performer. Umkhanov dropped out of the competition only in the semifinals, where he lost to Sergei Volchkov.
Journalists do not know too much about Sh. Umkhanov's personal life. It is only known that the singer is not yet married. Sharip's father died in 2004. The singer also has two brothers and a sister.
