After Robert returned from the front, he worked for a long time in different places. In order to somehow settle in life, he took on any job offered to him, not disdaining even the dirtiest. Whoever he did not work. Janitor, doorman, machinist, shop inspector, caster, simple worker - this is an incomplete list of the professions that he has mastered. The future science fiction author did not have a higher education, but this did not prevent him from combining his labor activity with the activity of a writer.

Writing career

Robert began to write early enough, but his first story, entitled "Inseparable From the Darkness of the Sky," he published only at 38 years old. It was a publication in a magazine called Astounding Stories. After this publication, he was published frequently and extensively in various American magazines. These publications were predominantly sci-fi.

The great success and recognition of the writer brought his first large collection, which was called "The Worlds of Robert F. Young." This collection of novellas and short stories was published in 1965. Having gained fame, it was reprinted many times. His second collection "Stars in a Glass" was no less interesting and also received recognition from the reader.

Robert Young writes a lot. These are mainly novels and stories: "A Garden in the Forest", "Written by the Stars", "Robot Son", "Blue Soil", "Cut Down a Tree", "On the River", "Years" and a number of others. All his works find their readers, but he still does not become famous.

Young wrote 5 novels from 1964 to 1983: The Quest of the Holy Grille, The Vizier’s 2nd Daughter, Starfinder, The Last Iggdrasill, Eridahn. Many writers then believed that he was little known precisely because he had few novels written. During his long writing career, Young did not receive any awards for his work.

The writings of Robert Young are still printed and read. Many of them have been translated into different languages of the world, including Russian ("Dandelion Girl", "The Stars Are Calling", "House of Cards", "Brothers in Mind" and others).
