Psalms or psalms are a form of Christian and Jewish lyric poetry presented in the form of prayer. Like any other part of the religious cult, the singing of psalms is regulated, and therefore they learn to sing them from the first days of their stay in the theological seminary.
Instructions
Step 1
The Psalms are collected in the Psalter. It is a biblical book of the Old Testament, which includes 150 psalms in which it is sung about the various trials of life. Psalms are performed during the Jewish liturgy, at Christian services, including in Protestant churches, they are even found in professional music and in oral folklore. Psalms in Christian worship are sung by a chorus, rarely by a small vocal ensemble in a church. Such songs are performed a capella. In Christianity, the singing of psalms is regulated, each psalter indicates the correctness of its performance, in other words, its formulaic melody. However, there are general rules of execution that must be known and followed.
Step 2
Psalms must be performed in the Old Russian language, pronouncing the words correctly and clearly. You need to sing while standing, sitting or on your knees. Silence in the hall where the religious text is performed is mandatory.
Step 3
When reading psalms, it is advisable for women to cover their head with a scarf, and clothes should be modest, cover the body, hiding elbows and legs. If men are singing, they only stand behind the women. The psalter itself has four reading rules:
- daily circle, - kathisma, - individual reading and life.
Step 4
Reading the daily circle. Each psalm is designed for a specific time of day, which is the basis of the daily circle. It is believed that the psalms are associated with the history of the creation of the world, the time of day, the salvation of the world, or they relate to the life of Jesus Christ, so in the morning sing in song the morning psalms, at lunchtime - the psalms about creation, in the evening - praise, as well as those that talk about the sacrifice of the son of god.
Step 5
Poetic kathisma. The Psalter is divided into 20 kathisma (sections). During the performance, several psalms are read in a row, between which additional prayers are performed. The entire Psalter is designed for a week, since each kathisma has its own day of the week.
Step 6
Studying individual psalms is an individual rule. You can choose certain psalms for yourself, but before singing them and after that, special prayers should be read. Also, some psalms can be memorized, use them as the basis for your prayers. In a difficult life situation, such psalms will help you find the right path and strengthen your spirit.
Step 7
Reading the scripture for life or knowing it on your own experience is considered the most effective way of reading, since often people who have not read the holy books lead a more righteous life than preachers.
