American musician, singer and composer, leader of the bands "Blink-182" and "Angels & Airwaves". In addition to music and songs, he writes fairy tales, serious short stories and comics.
Biography
Born in Powei, California. As a child, I wanted to become a firefighter without thinking about a musical career. The first musical instrument for the future musician was a trumpet presented for Christmas. In the third grade, he is seriously interested in skateboarding.
For the first time he picked up a guitar in a church camp, Delong was delighted with playing this instrument. His own guitar appeared in the sixth grade. It was a cheap acoustic guitar, but the boy was happy giving concerts for his first audience - his brother and sister.
When Tom was eighteen, his parents divorced. The young man decided to live independently, at first he worked as a truck driver.
Career
DeLonge formed his first successful group "Blink-182" in 1992. With no funds to rent a studio for rehearsals, the band rehearsed in the drummer's room. The first demo-composition "Flyswatter" was also recorded there.
The first album "Cheshire Cat" was recorded in Los Angeles in 1995. And although the release of the album did not bring the musicians any income, the very fact of working in the studio inspired the band members to continue their work.
The second album "Dude Ranch" was recorded in 1997. The audience liked the compositions, one of them "Dammit" went platinum.
The third and fourth albums "Enema of the State" and "Take Off Your Pants and Jacket" were also commercially successful. After the release of the third album, the band embarked on a world tour.
In 2003, after the release of the album "Blink-182", disagreements between the musicians and fatigue from intensive touring activities led to the group's disbandment.
In 2006 he starts working with a new group "Angels & Airwaves". In the same year, the debut album, "We Don't Need to Whisper", was released, receiving positive reviews from critics. In total with the project "Angels & Airwaves" DeLonge has recorded 5 albums.
In 2009 he reunited with members of the group "Blink-182". The group embarks on a world tour with great success.
In 2015 he recorded the solo album "To the Stars … Demos, Odds and Ends". The album received mixed reviews, with an average of three scores from music critics.
Delong does not limit his writing talent to song lyrics. To date, he has written and published over 10 books. Among his works are comics, children's stories, short stories and autobiography.
Personal life
In 1996, he began dating his childhood friend Jennifer Jenkins, the couple formalized the relationship in 2001. The family has two children - a boy and a girl.
In 2011, he created a site dedicated to the paranormal, conspiracy theories and extrasensory perception.
