James got the main role in the film "And in my soul I dance", where he embodied on the screen the image of a disabled young man. This film has earned critical acclaim and was named one of the best films in Ireland.

A year later, McAvoy was invited to shoot the first film "The Chronicles of Narnia", and then to the picture "The Last King of Scotland."
