The German actor Sebastian Koch starred in his first series at the age of 8, and then he had an almost ten-year hiatus. And in the future, such intervals between filming also happened, but today Koch is a demanded actor with world renown.
Biography
Sebastian Koch was born in 1962 in the German city of Karlsruhe. A little later, the Koch family moved to the city of Stuttgart. The future actor spent his childhood here.
Sebastian was raised by his mother - his father left the family. He studied well at school, was an obedient son and dreamed of a musical career. From the age of seven he studied violin at a music school and he and his mother all the time imagined how he would go on the big stage and play his favorite classics.
It would have happened, but at a young age, Sebastian had the opportunity to talk with director Klaus Paulmann, who literally infected him with his love of acting. Therefore, instead of the conservatory, Koch graduated from the acting school. It happened in 1985, and immediately he was accepted into the troupe of the Munich Theater of Youth. In this group, the young actor showed himself so brilliantly that he was recommended for work in the capital, at the Berlin State Theater.
Film career
Theatrical actors are often cast in series, and Sebastian Koch was no exception: in 1986 he was approved for a role in the crime series "Tatort - Die Macht des Schicksals". He was on TV very late, but he was popular.
In 2002, Koch took part in the filming of two television series at once. One of them was in Russia under the title "The Mann Family - A Centenary Novel." The series in Germany was awarded the title of Television Event of the Year. Sebastian played the role of Klaus Mann in the series, and for this role he was nominated for an honorary award - the Bavarian Television Prize.
Sebastian Koch gained international fame after the release of a historical tape - a mini-series about the life of the great emperor "Napoleon". Here he played the role of Marshal Jean Lannes, who, together with Napoleon, marched triumphantly as the conqueror of European countries and who together with him experienced the shame of defeat.
After this series, Koch had many invitations to different films, he starred a lot. This work gave a predictable result: in 2006 he became the best actor of the year, at the same time he received the Bambi award.
Koch becomes even more famous after participating in the film "The Lives of Others". The film itself was considered the best foreign film, was awarded an Academy Award. This success he consolidated with his work in the film "Black Book", which was presented at a competition in Venice. Now the actor could confidently say that he was a celebrity.
Koch's most recent works include roles in the films Bel Canto and Work without Authorship. The artist's plans are still many filming in films, work in the theater and other creative activities.
Personal life
For the first time, Sebastian Koch married journalist Birgit Keller. The family did not last long, although the couple had a daughter, Paulina. It so happened that the wife left, and the daughter stayed with Sebastian. Paulina now lives with her father in Berlin.
He still had romances, but they did not lead to marriage, and so far he considers his daughter his best friend.
