Every nation has traditions that relate to literally all aspects of its life. They have a great influence on the mentality of people, their behavior. Thanks to traditions, rules of communication are formed, ideas about what is permissible and what is not are instilled. But besides this, traditions are one of the essential elements of folk culture.
Instructions
Step 1
Of course, oral folklore used to play a big role: fairy tales, epics, sagas, etc. But another essential element that allows preserving the culture of the people was its traditions. Until there was a written language, the accumulated knowledge and experience could be transmitted only by personal example. That is, the principle was: "Do as I do!" The elders showed the children how to hunt, fish, gather edible plants, build shelters from the weather, light and keep a fire, and make tools. Along with these vital things, children were taught how to communicate with their fellow tribesmen, with representatives of other tribes, peoples, how to behave with older and younger ones. This training has continued from generation to generation. This is how traditions gradually arose.
Step 2
Over time, traditions have become an integral part of the life of any nation, its characteristic feature. They played a huge role in his oral work, in the visual and applied arts (rock paintings, figurines, ornaments). Subsequently, when writing arose, traditions in the same way had a very great influence on the work of writers. After depicting the everyday life of people, the author described it in its entirety, such as it became, including under the influence of the traditions of this people!
Step 3
Religious traditions have had an exceptionally strong influence on the culture of different peoples (and still continue to have in some countries). For example, the ancient Greeks and Romans, whose culture was at a very high level, created many beautiful statues depicting, including naked people. The Christian religion considered it a sin, therefore, from the early Middle Ages to the Renaissance, the naked human body was not depicted either in paintings or in the form of statues.
Step 4
The Muslim religion generally forbade portraying a person in any form, therefore, in countries where Islam prevailed, there were no human portraits or statues. But at the highest level, stone ornaments in the form of Arabic script were made, repeating lines from the holy book for Muslims - the Koran.
Step 5
And in some countries of the East (for example, Japan, China) the art of calligraphy was traditionally highly valued. Therefore, there, from generation to generation, they studied this skill for many years, trying to achieve perfection in writing hieroglyphs with ink.
