The terms of conscription for military service are established by the law "On conscription and military service", and are additionally fixed in the decrees of the President of the Russian Federation. Spring conscription is carried out from April 1 to July 15, autumn - from October 1 to December 31.
The terms of the autumn and spring conscription are set at the legislative level. You can find out these terms by studying Article 25 of the Federal Law "On Military Duty and Military Service". This norm stipulates that the conscription of citizens who are not in the reserve for service is carried out twice a year. From April 1 to July 15, inclusive, the spring conscription campaign takes place, and from October 1 to December 31, inclusive, the autumn conscription campaign is carried out. At the same time, the indicated deadlines are also fixed in the decrees of the President of the Russian Federation, which are adopted before each call. It is prohibited by law to carry out conscription activities outside these periods.
Can the timing of the call be changed?
As a rule, the timing of the autumn and spring conscriptions remains unchanged, since their duration is established by law. They are mandatory for all draft commissions, military commissariats, which cannot, at their own discretion, change the periods of draft campaigns. At the same time, by decree of the President of the Russian Federation, the period of conscription may be extended due to the failure to fulfill the established plan for attracting citizens to serve. In practice, this happens extremely rarely, since the planned number of recruits has dropped significantly in recent years.
Special dates for autumn and spring conscription
For some categories of conscripts, the aforementioned article of the Law "On Military Duty and Military Service" establishes special terms for the autumn, spring conscription. Thus, for residents of some regions of the Far North, the campaign dates are set from May 1 to July 15 and from November 1 to December 31. Special deadlines for the autumn conscription are also set for conscripts living in rural areas, provided that they are directly involved in sowing and harvesting work. In this case, the call is carried out from October fifteenth to December thirty-first. For teachers, on the contrary, special terms have been established for the spring conscription, which is implemented from May 1 to July 15. The current legislation does not contain other exceptions to the general rule on the periods of the autumn, spring conscription, therefore, the general periods of campaigns are universally applied.
