At these times of the year, perhaps the biggest danger on the streets is ice, icicles and drifts on the roofs. It would seem that safety measures on ice are elementary and everyone knows. But why, then, the number of victims due to their own negligence does not decrease every year?
So, what are the simplest rules most often violated in winter and early spring:
- Do not run to the bus or minibus. Everyone knows that running on a slippery road is dangerous, especially along the roadway. But what does it matter if you're late for work, doesn't it?
- Do not wear shoes with smooth soles, boots with heels. The more stable the shoes are, the better. In this matter, convenience and safety are much more important than beauty.
- Do not keep your hands in your pockets. First, it makes it easier to stay on your feet. Second, it is easier to land without serious consequences, including fractures and concussions.
- As far as possible, keep away from icy sections of the road. Many people not only do not bypass them, but, on the contrary, scatter and try to glide on the ice in style. It is a bad idea. If you love this kind of entertainment, go skiing.
- Do not cross the road, do not try to cross it even at a pedestrian crossing, if there is a risk that the cars will not have time to stop - there is ice on the roadway. Of course, if the driver hits a person at a pedestrian crossing, he will be at fault. But what is the benefit to the victim?
- Do not walk under windows - where icicles can fall. By the way, if you see large icicles hanging from the roof, do not disregard this fact, but rather inform the employees of utilities about it. Perhaps this way you will save someone from trouble.
Let's add the last rule. If you are walking near a building and hear suspicious noise from somewhere above, never raise your head to examine the source of the sound. There is a risk that a block of snow or ice will come off the roof. Do not try to run along the building - it is better to press against the wall, then the roof canopy will protect you.
