The frontman of the "Little Prince" collective today is associated with a wide musical audience with the only album "We will meet again" (1989). It was under the same name and the main song from it that millions of compatriots danced at one time.
Domestic retro music is now simply unthinkable without the Little Prince group and its soloist Alexander Khlopkov. After all, they are regular participants in various festivals and performers on the radio waves "Disco 80s and 90s", "Radio Dacha" and "Legends of Retro FM".
The popular singer still accepts invitations to participate in club and corporate events. And his concerts for the Russian-speaking audience are gathering full houses in many European countries.
Brief biography of Alexander Khlopkov
On February 22, 1968, the future popular artist was born in the capital of our Motherland. In a family far from the world of culture and art, Sasha's musical inclinations were perceived by his brothers, sister and parents with great interest. From kindergarten, the boy talentedly performed almost the entire repertoire of the "Time Machine", and then went to a music school (piano class) and began performing in amateur ensembles.
It is noteworthy that the future idol of millions of fans of his talent never received a professional education. His first teacher, who passed on invaluable knowledge of stage skills and behind-the-scenes competition, was Alexander Sitkovetsky (head of VIA "Autograph"). And in May 1988, Khlopkov, on the recommendation of Andrei Lityagin, became a member of the mega-popular Mirage musical group.
Creative career of a musician
Alexander Khlopkov's creative career in "Mirage" began at a time when Natalia Gulkina left the musical group, decided to start a solo career and left her post to Natalia Vetlitskaya. According to the artist, he began a romantic relationship with the new soloist of the group. However, after a while, the young people broke up, remaining friends.
Alexander still recalls that period of his creative life with great reverence. The team has developed warm, friendly relations. At Khlopkov's house, "parties" often gathered, in which Roman Zhukov, Igor Sarukhanov, Andrei Razin and Dmitry Varshavsky took part. It is interesting that there was no such case when the artists left “Mirage”, as they say, “to nowhere”. This kind of "factory of stars of the 80s" acted as a real school of life for all its participants.
During the musical tour in Evpatoria there was an episode when the composition "Closing the Circle" was performed by all the participants of the "Mirage", and Lityagin noted the vocal abilities of the keyboardist. It so happened that at this time the producer was going to implement a new creative project, which required a new soloist. And the name of the group was invented by Mikhail Goryachev.
The Little Prince group was formed in April 1989. Its formation took place very rapidly, and in August of this year the first (and, unfortunately, the only) album was already recorded in Tallinn. A tremendous success accompanied the new team, tickets for its concerts were instantly sold out, and many letters of thanks and gifts came to the soloist.
In 1994, the disc was reissued. Its new edition, in addition, includes the compositions "Autumn" and "Wet Asphalt" by Igor Nikolaev, as well as the song "You betrayed love" by Sergei Trofimov. Thus, the first round of popularity of Alexander Khlopkov was limited to 1993. And already in 2006, he bought the rights to all the songs of The Little Prince from the former producer.
But this action was accompanied by a rather large scandal related to the fact that Andrei Lityagin executed a deal in violation of legal norms. Indeed, by that time, he himself no longer had any rights to these musical works, since he transferred them simultaneously to several persons, including the JAM Group International company. However, after lengthy court proceedings, a decision was made in favor of the soloist.
At present, Alexander Khlopkov very accurately guessed new trends in pop music, when the disco repertoire of the eighties and nineties of the 20th century became extremely popular. Now his old songs "I don't know why I need you", "Goodbye" and "Bigfoot", which have gained a second youth, have been supplemented with fresh hits, among which there are compositions "On the edge of the sky", "April" and "Never".
Personal life
Almost nothing is known about the first marriage of Alexander Khlopkov. And he met his second wife Polina in Germany when he was on tour there. The musician's wife has Russian roots. Their whirlwind romance at the initial stage was associated with different countries of residence, frequent flights, correspondence and telephone conversations. The musician himself then could not even imagine that he would be able to connect his life with a foreign land.
Later, Alexander left for Württemberg for permanent residence, where, together with his wife, he organized the Alexis Entertainment concert agency, which was involved in organizing tours of Russian artists. And six months later, Polina adopted Yana (Khlopkov's daughter from her first marriage), and they took her to their home in Germany. And in 2001, the family was replenished with a daughter, Vita. It is interesting that both girls often come to Russia to visit their relatives and speak two languages perfectly.
In recent years, Alexander has already abandoned the idea of repeating his former glory, when his concerts gathered whole stadiums. However, as he admits, he is very pleased that even today young people come to his performances.
