2.5 million people - according to the statistics of people, every year in the world die from alcohol abuse. Moreover, of this number, 6, 2% are men, and 1, 1% are women. According to the calculations of scientists, the amount of alcohol drunk on average per year per capita has long crossed the 5-liter line. And this is a global problem, despite the fact that it is traditionally believed that only Russian people drink a lot.
Alcohol addiction is not only a personal matter of a person. The alcoholic's family also suffers greatly from this. In addition, experts calculated that half of all recorded offenses, incl. and especially serious, was not carried out on a sober head. Traffic accidents, beatings, murders, robberies, rapes - the list is endless. And the number of children born inferior due to the fact that their parents were actively drinking is estimated in thousands.
Alcohol addiction also causes economic decline, leading to disruptions in production. In addition, alcohol has a detrimental effect on human health, leading to the development of diseases, premature aging, and deterioration in appearance.
Alcohol in Russia
Traditionally, it is believed that Russian people drink a lot. Russians are even often called the most drinking nation. After all, many Russians simply cannot imagine a holiday without a bottle of something intoxicating. Weak alcoholic drinks, such as beer or cocktails, can be consumed even by pregnant and lactating mothers. And all this despite the fact that in Russia alcohol leads to the death of half a million people every year.
According to statistics, about 80% of crimes in the Russian Federation are committed in a drunken stupor. Children lose their parents and end up in orphanages also most often due to the fact that the latter drink almost without waking up. In addition, not only adults are susceptible to this addiction - more than 80% of adolescents in Russia drink.
From the point of view of the economy, the country also seriously suffers from the alcoholism of the population, losing 1 trillion 700 billion rubles. per year due to various production downtime, delays, payments of benefits to victims of "drunken" road accidents, etc.
Alcoholism in the world
Despite the fact that they try to present Russia as the most drinker, and despite the fact that the statistics are extremely disappointing, in fact the Russian Federation is not the most backward in this matter. Experts calculated and stated that the most drinking country is Moldova, where one resident drinks on average a little more than 18 liters of alcohol per year. Also, the Czech Republic, Hungary and Ukraine were included in the number of drinking countries. Estonia, Romania, Slovenia, Belarus and even prim Great Britain did not stand aside.
According to the WHO, programs for the rehabilitation of alcoholics and for correcting the situation with alcohol in general are included in the budgets of 126 countries of the world.
Europe suffers from alcoholism no less than Russia. Thus, the damage to the economy of the European Union from the abundant libations of its citizens amounts to several hundred billion euros. Moreover, 2/3 of this amount is the cost of overcoming the problems associated with alcohol, and the rest is the economic damage from the decrease in labor productivity of the population.
