Scary films began to be filmed at the dawn of cinematography, and throughout the history of cinema, they enjoyed constant popularity. But the most believable horror movies appeared only in the 21st century, thanks to the development of computer special effects.

1945 year. Gray Stewart lives with his son and daughter in a remote English estate, waiting for her husband to return from the war. Grace's children are severely allergic to daylight, which is why all windows are constantly covered with curtains. Once all the servants disappear in the house, and the estate itself is surrounded by fog. Grace is hired by a trinity: nanny Bertha, gardener Edmund and mute servant Lydia. A group of friends, who are fond of extreme sports, go to the Appalachian Mountains to explore the cave. After the girls crawled through the narrow passage, it collapsed, cutting off their way back. It is revealed that group leader Juno led her friends to an unexplored cave instead of the one previously chosen to visit. Therefore, the rescuers do not know where the girls are. Since there is nowhere to wait for help, the group decides to look for a way out, moving deeper into the cave. Soon, the girls discover that they are being hunted by creepy humanoid creatures.
House of Wax (2005)
A company of four guys and two girls goes to watch a football match. On the way, they stop for the night, during which someone damages the car's drive belt. One of the guys, together with his girlfriend, decides to go to the nearest city for a new belt. A strange man who collects animal carcasses on the roads drives them to a gas station on the edge of town. A young couple discovers that no one is at the gas station. Then they decide to take a walk through the city, which also turns out to be suspiciously empty, and wander into a wax museum with unusually realistic exhibits.
