Comics are funny hand-drawn images arranged in a certain sequence in accordance with the plot design. The first series of comic pictures appeared at the end of the 19th century in American newspapers. Gradually comics turned into a whole industry, the popularity of which peaked in the middle of the last century.

Step 1
The comics first appeared in the American evening newspaper New York Journal in October 1896. The first comic was titled Cubs and the Tiger. Then a story was created about a young Chinese boy who came to the United States in search of new experiences. This story became especially popular and liked the readers. The publishers immediately decided to put the case on stream. A whole series of similar adventure comics was ordered.
Step 2
The genre quickly became popular and widespread. In these pictures, which had a plot and filled with meaning, visual images and narrative text were combined. Caricaturists working with newspapers and magazines were looking for new ways to present graphic and visual information that could attract new readers to the publication.
Step 3
The sayings of the characters were enclosed in a frame that looked like a "bubble". The peculiarities of the genre and the space limited by the limits of the newspaper sheet made the comic book characters not too talkative, but very active. One of the features of the classic comics is the richness of its short dialogues. Therefore, the characters were very often depicted in pairs in separate pictures.
Step 4
Subsequently, comics gradually lost the character of comic pictures and received a more varied content. Even a new direction has emerged - "horror comics". They reflect mystical, criminal and military stories. Drawn scenes from history and transcriptions by the classics of world literature were also popular. The static images were often very skillfully executed, they perfectly convey the dynamics of the characters' actions.
Step 5
By their very nature, comics initially gravitated towards drama. A standard comic strip contains four to six drawings that link the unity of the scene and time. The plot of the plot takes place within a limited space. The climax does not always lead to a denouement. Very often, in a series of images, an understatement remains hidden behind the meaningful phrase "to be continued."
Step 6
The idea of comics, so successfully implemented in the newspapers of the 19th and 20th centuries, has received a new embodiment in the mass art of this century. Now the comics industry employs entire teams of talented artists, armed with modern computer technology. The most popular are combined drawing images, which use pencil, oil and digitization.
