Biography
The future legend of Portugal and Europe was born on the fourth day of November 1972 in the capital Lisbon. Luis had a great passion for football since childhood. He was so passionate about him that he practically abandoned schooling. Poor school performance did not bother the father of the future football star, moreover, he helped his son get into the Pashtillash amateur team.
Career
Figo's excellent technique and good results in football attracted the attention of the scouts of the Portuguese grandee Sporting Lisbon. The guy was invited to the screening, which he easily passed and was accepted into the team. It took Figo five years to play at the youth level to make his professional debut. He signed his first professional contract in 1989. Then he made his debut for Sporting, but in the first season he played only three games.
He was able to gain a foothold in the base and regularly appear on the field only two years later. Since the 91/92 season, he has become a base player and for four years has consistently entered the field from the first minutes. In total, Luis played 169 matches for the Portuguese club, in which he hit the opponents' goal 20 times. While playing for Sporting, Figo won his first trophy: in 1995 he became the champion of Portugal.
In 1995 he moved to one of the best clubs in the Old World - Spanish Barcelona. Thanks to his talents, the athlete almost immediately became a key player in the team. He spent five years in the “blue garnet” camp, during which he significantly replenished the trophy asset: twice became the champion of Spain, twice won the country's cup, raised the UEFA Super Cup and the Cup Winners' Cup over his head.
At the beginning of the new millennium, Luis Figo committed a rash act that Barcelona fans cannot forgive him to this day. In 2000, he moved to the camp of the main rival of the Catalans in the royal club "Real". During the time that he played for the Madrid club, not a single El Classico was without incidents. Leopard fans regularly ran out onto the field and tried to hit Figo, and once a severed pig's head was thrown into the field. Five years later, the famous Portuguese left the "cream" and moved to Italy.
The last club for Luis Figo was Italian Inter, where he played four seasons before retiring. He played his farewell match in 2009 in the Italian championship.
Personal life
Luis Figo is married. He met his chosen one in 1996. The couple played the wedding only in 2001. The couple have three daughters: Danielle, Martina and Stella.
