Alexey Markovich Kolomiets is a world-renowned scientist. He made a great contribution to the development of domestic methods of geological exploration of minerals. Academician, laureate of prizes and state awards, "Honored Geologist of the Russian Federation" and today remains a leading specialist in the field of technologies for drilling on water and prospecting for deposits.

early years

Alexey Kolomiets was born in the village of Chernigovka, Primorsky Krai in 1938. The boy's father served in the border troops, so the family often moved. Alexey spent his childhood and adolescence in the Ukrainian Uzhgorod, where he also received a certificate of secondary education with honors. Parents had already seen their son as a medical student, but the ambitious young man went to Moscow and entered the Geological Prospecting Institute. Minerals fascinated him for a long time, when his mother, a school librarian, began to bring home books on geology. When Alyosha was 15, a well was drilled in the city for mineral water, this process made an indelible impression on the teenager. Kolomiets became the first student to enter the Faculty of Intelligence Engineering with a gold medal.

Alexey studied very well, graduated from the university with honors. He was a Komsomol organizer and always fought for justice. At the time of distribution, he learned that the C grade students were sent to a special design bureau of the Ministry of Geology - the dream of all students. The documents required the signature of the Komsomol organizer, but the principled Kolomiets did not put it. He himself gave up all privileges and went on the remaining ticket to Gorky.

First well

Kolomiets arrived at his first place of work in 1960. Received the direction of the Gremyachevskaya geological exploration party, which was located in the Semyonovsky district. In the village of Aleksandrovka, the young man rented a house, but spent most of his time at the drilling rig. The head of the personnel department offered the place of an ordinary worker. Alexey agreed, but found out on the spot that he had been accepted as a master.

This was the first well of a young engineer. They were looking for table salt. Alexey was surrounded mainly by young guys. We worked together and cheerfully, we had to learn a lot, master new machines. Thanks to the technology organized by Kolomiets, the only brigade in the area raised the mineral to the surface. Over the years, this site became the largest field of table salt in the region, its deposits turned out to be huge.

Career

The first success of a drilling foreman helped him climb the career ladder. After 5 years, he received the post of chief engineer of the expedition, led the topic in the Middle Volga department. He was subordinate to 29 drilling crews throughout the Volga region. They searched not only for salt, but also ore and non-metallic raw materials, carried out geological surveys and explored underground waters. Each object was carefully studied and mapped.

In 1983, Kolomiets was appointed head of the geological exploration expedition of the unification of the Central regions. By that time, the geological exploration service area of the organization had increased to one million square kilometers, and the number of brigades had increased to 60.

Since 1991, Aleksey Markovich has been the General Director of the Volgogeologiya federal unitary enterprise. Kolomiets recalled how difficult it was in the 90s, when state funding almost stopped and he had to look for customers among individual enterprises. Many similar organizations ceased to exist, but Kolomiets managed to keep the state-owned enterprise until 2013. He believes that the secret of success is teamwork, helped by good and enterprising staff.

2013 was a turning point for the company and its leader. Alexey Markovich spent a long time in the hospital, at that moment a new director, an absolute non-professional, came to Volgogeologiya. He fired the old team and suspended the former leader. Kolomiets had to wage a real fight for the right to return to work. Soon the enterprise became a joint-stock company.

Scientist, inventor

In 1977, Kolomiets completed his Ph. D. thesis. The topic dealt with the use of water-hypane solutions in geological exploration technology. In 2011, the scientist received his doctorate for the presented work on the use of water-soluble polymers in well drilling techniques. The scientist recalled that it was extremely difficult to defend a dissertation on the job, there was not enough time and energy.

Kolomiets has about 120 publications and 8 books. The last collection is an epoch-making work, there has not been such a reference book on drilling on water for about 40 years. There are dozens of copyright inventions and patents in the scientist's piggy bank.

Creation

Even in preschool age, Alexei began to write poetry. The first naive lines were written by my mother, since the author was not familiar with literacy. At school, I had to compose for the Olympics and competitions. After the 7th grade, Kolomiets decided to end his hobby and remembered about it only after college in the 60s. I wrote down poetry in a thick notebook, but when I reread it two decades later, I was disappointed and burned it.

With the arrival of the 80s, a new stage in the work of Alexei Markovich began. He says that "poetry found him herself." This is how 14 collections of poetry and a book of prose were born. He was able to see in geology not only hard everyday life, but also romance, which he hastened to share with readers.

How does he live today

Today the famous scientist says that he is grateful to the fate that sent him to Gorky for "geological" baptism. The path that Aleksey Markovich took from a simple foreman to the head of the country's largest exploration association allowed him to become a leading specialist in this area. The flushing fluids that he created and applied in practice in the Nizhny Novgorod region formed the basis of his future theses. Most of Kolomiets's biography is associated with this region; he has lived here for more than half a century.

The personal life of a geologist is connected with one woman, Alexandra Stepanovna. Alexey met his future wife when he was 22 years old. He got married in a hurry, but it turned out that this union is for life. The couple raised their daughter Oksana and son Marko. The children gave them six grandchildren.

The only thing that upsets Kolomiets is the future of Russian geology, the scientist told about this in a recent interview. He believes that the continuity, the system of studying the subsoil and the geological schools have been destroyed. But Alexey Markovich is an optimist, because without this science further development of the national economy of the country is impossible. This means that there will be a revival of Russian geology!
