The legendary commander of the partisan movement K. Zaslonov and his associates for a long time smashed the enemy on the territory occupied by the Nazis. The successes of the partisans forced the Germans to throw units against the detachment, made up of traitors who agreed to cooperate with the Germans. In one of the fierce battles, the partisan commander Zaslonov died.
From the biography of K. Zaslonov
The famous Soviet partisan was born on January 7, 1910. He grew up in the family of a simple worker. The birthplace of Konstantin Zaslonov is the Tver province, the city of Ostashkov. Back in the 19th century, Ostashkov was considered one of the most advanced cities in the center of Russia: the country's first hospitals, religious and folk schools appeared here.
Kostya Zaslonov received his education at the Nevel Labor School, where he studied from 1924 to 1927. The father had a small farm: a mare, a foal and a couple of cows. This became the reason for "dispossession". The Zaslonov family - father, two sisters and two brothers of Konstantin were sent to the North, and Kostya himself had to part with his Komsomol ticket.
The young man continued his education at the railway school. He married and went with his young wife to the East of the country, where he participated in the restoration of the railway. Soon a daughter was born to the Zaslonovs. It was a hungry time. Konstantin's wife began to get sick, so Zaslonov decided to send his family to Vitebsk, and then he left the Far East himself.
Since the end of the 30s, Zaslonov was in charge of the work of the locomotive depot in Orsha.
Partisan commander
The war began. Zaslonov was sent to the capital of the USSR. Here he worked in a steam train depot. In the fall of 1941, Konstantin Sergeevich began to ask for the front - he really wanted to beat the Nazis. As a result, he and a group of trained railroad workers were sent to the rear of the enemy army. Zaslonov adopted a partisan pseudonym, becoming "Uncle of Bones". The underground group formed by Konstantin destroyed about a hundred German steam locomotives in less than three months of work.
In March of the next year, K. Zaslonov and the group he led moved to Vitebsk, where the partisans successfully destroyed the fascist equipment and soldiers. Against the partisans, the Germans actively used units of the notorious Russian National People's Army, formed from prisoners of war. But the fighters of these formations en masse went over to the side of the partisans. K. Zaslonov himself took part in the agitation of such people.
Not all the confused fighters-"populists" could be persuaded by any means. On November 14, 1942, the RNNA battalions loyal to the Nazis went to the rear of the partisan formation. Konstantin Zaslonov led the defense, engaging in a battle with an enemy superior in strength to the partisans. Alas, there was little chance of winning. During the bloody battles, the partisans were defeated. Konstantin Sergeevich himself died, many soldiers of the detachment fell at the hands of Nazi accomplices.
For the body of a dead partisan commander, the Germans promised a very solid reward. However, local residents hid the bodies of the dead soldiers, did not give them to the enemy. After the victory, the hero's ashes were buried in Orsha.
K. S. Zaslonov is a Hero of the Soviet Union. This title was awarded to him posthumously.
