The 34th Moscow International Film Festival will take place in the last decade of June 2012. Main competition, Perspectives, out-of-competition screenings and retro-perspective screenings. What else will please the MIFF this year?
The opening ceremony of the festival will take place on June 21 at the Oktyabr cinema. However, already on June 20, some films will be shown to the press at the Khudozhestvenny cinema.
On June 21, only two films will be shown. The film "Duhless" by Russian director Roman Prygunov will be the opening film. In the evening, the Hungarian-German film "The Door", directed by Istvan Szabo, will be screened.
From June 22 to June 30, various competitive and non-competitive screenings will be held in the Khudozhestvenny and Oktyabr cinemas.
The main competition of the Moscow International Film Festival may include films for which the screening at the Moscow Film Festival will be the premiere. The films will be shown several times, in different cinemas and on different days. The first screening will be exclusively for the press. Any viewer can get to the next screenings after purchasing a ticket.
The main program of the festival will include such films as "80 Million" (Waldemar Krzystek, Poland), "Hellfire" (Lee Sang Woo, Korea), "Rita's Last Fairy Tale" (Rinat Litvinova, Russia). In total, 17 films participate in the main competition.
The Perspectives competition will be held similar to the main competition. Thirteen films will participate in it, among which: "Everyone is gone" (Georgy Parajanov), "The Destroyers" (R. Hood).
7 films will participate in the short film competition. Among them: "Brother" by Sasha Polak (Netherlands), "On the Road" by Anna Sarukhanova (Russia), "Panic" by Will Juwell (Great Britain).
Only 7 films will take part in the documentary competition.
The Moscow International Film Festival will also host a rather diverse out-of-competition program. The films will be divided into several clusters: Gala Premieres, Russian Trace, Sex, Food, Culture, Trace, Good, Bad, Ugly. There will be 22 such clusters in total.
The closing film will be shown on June 29 at 19.00 at the Khudozhestvenny cinema.
In addition to the films themselves, Moscow Business Square, the business platform of the 34th Moscow Film Festival, will operate from June 25 to June 27. The Moscow Corporation Forum will be held within its framework. The last day of the Forum will be devoted to the film industry of the CIS countries.
