In fact, mankind has been trying to look "like a needle" for more than a thousand years. People have always wanted to look beautiful and fashionable. But, as the designers themselves say, what suits the face is fashionable, and if a person is dressed neatly and his dress or suit is ironed and clean, then this is one of the keys to success. Nobody knows exactly when and who invented what is now commonly called an iron. Most likely, it appeared when clothes made of fabric appeared. Although archaeologists claim that the skins were also ironed - with polished mammoth bone. There were a lot of ironing devices that we don't come across in everyday life, and have already forgotten about them.

The first ironing device was most likely a flat, heavy stone. On the rock carvings of the ancient Aztecs, the ironing process is depicted as follows: clothes were spread on a flat surface, pressed down on top with a stone and left for a while under this press. In Russia, there was a method of ironing using a ruble and a roll. Dried linen was wound on a well-planed stick and rolled over the tabletop using a corrugated board. This principle is still used in some ironing machines. The first irons were solid cast - of cast iron or bronze, and were heated over an open fire. They were heavy, cooled down quickly. Over time, solid irons were significantly improved: they began to be made in pairs - with one common removable handle for two cast-iron canvases. While one sheet was being ironed, the second was heated, which made the ironing process continuous. Above, for better traction, a pipe was installed from which smoke came out. On the sides of the iron, special holes were made to provide access for combustion air. Sometimes you had to wave the iron back and forth to increase ventilation. Some Russian irons were made with a double bottom: the ash is easy to pull out, and the sole heats up more evenly. Alcohol irons were much more expensive - in the 19th century, a small flock of sheep was given for it. With the advent of electricity and the development of technology, electric irons appeared.

Now, when technical progress does not stand still, the ironing process has become much easier and more fun. But the history of the iron is far from over. After all, before gaining a modern look and becoming an ultra-modern device - lightweight, ergonomic, efficient and safe, the iron has come a long way of development.
