Iron Man is a sci-fi action film that was released worldwide in 2008. Its main character is the eponymous character from the comic book series created by Marvel.

Step 1
Development of Iron Man began in the 1990s with contributions from New Line Cinema, 20th Century Fox and Universal Studios, and in 2006 the production rights were acquired by Marvel Studios, making the film the company's first fully independent project. Approved for the role of director, Jon Favreau chose California as the location, which made Iron Man stand out from other superhero films that are usually set in New York.
Step 2
Many actors, including Tom Cruise and Nicolas Cage, auditioned for the role of the millionaire inventor Tony Stark, who later became Iron Man, but in the end it went to the charismatic Robert Downey Jr. Gwyneth Paltrow has been cast as Virginia Pepper Potts. The actress said that she would agree to shoot only if they would take place near her home. The creators of the picture went to meet her and placed the site in a 15-minute walk from the house. Robert Downey Jr. has long tuned in for his role, studying the image of the American inventor and billionaire Elon Musk, founder and owner of PayPal, Tesla Motors and SpaceX.
Step 3
Adi Granov, an Iron Man comic book artist, took part in the design of the Mark 3 suit. The costume was made by Stan Winston Studios. The metal and rubber components of the armor were eventually supplemented with computer graphics.

After its release, the film received many positive reviews from critics. Representatives of the American Film Institute included him in the top ten films of 2008. Iron Man was also nominated for an Oscar for Best Visual Effects and Best Sound Editing, but lost the award to other contenders.
