Alexey was born in 1969 in Nizhny Novgorod, in a family of shipbuilding engineers. Almost immediately after the birth of their son, the Ivanovs moved to Perm, where they also worked at a shipyard.

Alexey's school years passed in Perm, and even then he decided to become a writer. However, he considered this profession inaccessible for himself so far, so after school he decided to go to study as a journalist.

In 1989 he entered the Faculty of Journalism at USU, and a year later dropped out. Alexey realized that he had chosen the wrong direction of education. And again he enters the same university, only to the faculty of art history. During this period, his passion for local history begins.

Ivanov was once asked to design material for the Uralsky Sledopi newspaper, and he became interested in the history of the Urals culture. Later, his fantastic stories were published in the same newspaper.

Literary biography

Ivanov's first works were invariably gathering dust on the table, but 2003 brought the event desired for any writer - his novel Heart of Parma was published. It contains motives of the Ural life, woven into a fictional artistic plot. The reaction of literary critics to this novel was mixed, and the readers liked it.

In 2010, there was a conflict, because of which Ivanov left Perm for Yekaterinburg. He did not accept the so-called "cultural revolution", which was being carried out by the regional administration at that time, and openly announced this. He believed that the top of the region spends money on dubious values, which here "smacks" of corruption. As a result, the prosecutor's office became interested in these cultural projects.

Adaptations of novels

In Yekaterinburg, Ivanov worked as a security guard and continued to write. There he finished his famous novel "The Geographer Drank The Globe", which brought him fame in wide circles of readers. And not only that: in 2013, the film version of this novel was released with Konstantin Khabensky in the title role. The film received the Grand Prix of the Kinotavr festival.

After this success, more than fifty theaters in Russia bought the rights to stage performances based on this novel, including the Perm Theater-Theater.

In total, Alexey Ivanov has published more than ten novels and six books in the genre of non-fiction. His books are distinguished by the fact that they are very colorful, with a lot of photographs.

Speaking of Ivanov's work, one cannot fail to mention the Ridge of Russia project. This is his first book in the style of non-fiction, it was written during a trip to the Urals, when Ivanov and Alexei Parfenov filmed their wanderings along the roads of the Urals, creating a documentary film.

Alexei Viktorovich has many literary awards, but he invariably refuses to receive them. And only in 2016 he received a prize for the novel "Bad Weather", which was recognized as the book of the year. A series based on this work will be filmed on the Russia-1 channel.

The last published novel of the writer is the second part of the "Tobol" project, the theme is the conquest of Siberia. A film and a television series are already being shot on it.

There is reason to believe that many of the writer's works are autobiographical - after all, Ivanov travels a lot and has seen a lot in life. And only from his novels can readers learn how their favorite writer lived and lives, because books for any prose writer are like milestones that describe his life, his experiences, and keep his memory.
