From the biography of David Semenovich Goloshchekin
The future famous jazz performer was born in the capital of the USSR on June 10, 1944. Six months later, the family moved to Leningrad, which survived the blockade - the city on the Neva was native to David's father. Semyon Goloshchekin worked at Lenfilm, he had many acquaintances among the creative intelligentsia. At one time, David's mother studied at a ballet school, but the injury did not allow her to go into this profession.
David fell in love with music from childhood. He often sang songs from movies. Somehow, in the process of work, Goloshchekin's father met Pavel Serebryakov, who at that time was the rector of the Leningrad Conservatory. He recommended that the boy be enrolled in an audition at a music school. While listening, David had to play the melody and rhythmic composition on the piano. The boy coped with the task brilliantly - it turned out that he had perfect pitch.
So David ended up in the violin class, where he began to receive a musical education. He was taken to kindergarten. The boy had to spend hours learning complex and tedious scales. It took several years for Goloshchekin to fall in love with the violin, with which so much suffering was associated.
Later, David began to master the piano. It was then that the lessons at the music school began to bring him pleasure. And it was already quite easy for him to master the viola. Goloshchekin graduated from the Musical College in 1961.
Jazz in the life of David Goloshchekin
At the age of 12, David became interested in pop music. The most favorite pastime of the teenager was listening to the radio set bought by his father. In search of musical programs, Goloshchekin met in absentia with many of the best performers of the era. Around the same time, David became interested in jazz. He listened to the most advanced music: compositions by Jacket, Webster, Hawkins. David met several fans of jazz music, and from the age of 16 he performed many compositions in dances.
Soon, Goloshchekin's parents divorced. Mother left for Moscow, father arranged his life. The young man decided to live independently.
In 1961, pianist Yuri Vyakhirev invited Goloschekin to join the jazz group he was creating, but for this David had to master the double bass. Being engaged to pain in joints, David mastered a new instrument in a matter of days. In Vyakhirev's team, David did not play for long, but it was here that he gained invaluable experience.
It was impossible to earn money by playing jazz in those years in the country. For this reason, for several years, Goloschekin had to combine his hobbies with work in official musical groups.
Musical career and creativity
In the mid-60s, Goloshchekin came to work in the Weinstein Orchestra, known throughout the country.
David later called the work in this team the happiest period in his creative biography. He was engaged in jazz and concert activities. In 1971 he was fortunate enough to play in the Duke Ellington Concerto, which was given in Leningrad.
In the 80s, Goloshchekin collaborated with the Lenconcert company. I often had to go on tour. At the end of the 1980s, a jazz philharmonic society was created in Leningrad, in which David and his creative group took part.
Goloshchekin managed to work a lot on the radio. In 1995 he began to broadcast the program "Jazz Kaleidoscope" on Radio Petersburg. The jazz performer also has projects with Radio Hermitage, as well as with Radio Rocks.
Telling radio listeners about his personal experience as a jazz performer, Goloshchekin tries not to touch upon topics related to his personal life. He categorically refuses to discuss with journalists his interests, hobbies, his relatives and friends.
