Without this person, it is impossible to imagine the childhood of any Soviet child. And modern too. How would our folklore have become impoverished, had it not been for the wonderful, kind, warm works of Suteev? Vladimir Grigorievich was thanked by hospitals for the fact that his fairy tales help children get better sooner. Moms, dads and grandmothers wrote letters from all over the world just to say, "Thank you for what you are doing." In his fairy tales, he told children about good and evil, about morality and morality. But he did it so skillfully that the kids listened to him, forgetting about everything in the world.
Childhood and youth
Vladimir Grigorievich Suteev was born on July 5, 1903 in the capital of our vast homeland - Moscow. His father, Grigory Osipovich, was known at that time as an unsurpassed doctor who did a lot for science. Grigory Osipovich was considered a prominent professor who was awarded the Stalin Prize for his undeniable contribution to medicine. He was in charge of the Venereal Disease Department, conducted independent research. Vladimir's dad loved to draw, sing, and from time to time he gave concerts. Love for creativity, definitely, passed on to the boy by inheritance. First, Vladimir went to the gymnasium, and then his parents transferred him to an ordinary comprehensive school.
As a teenager, he began to earn money in the field of drawing - he helped to design exhibitions. He created stories on the topic of health care. In addition to drawing, he tried himself in other professions: he worked as an assistant in a hospital, was a general physical training instructor for junior schoolchildren. From birth, the young man possessed an extraordinary talent - he was equally good at using both hands. When creating a drawing, he could simultaneously write a letter to someone with his free hand. This skill has come in handy for Suteev more than once in the future.
Study and first steps in the profession
The first popularity came to Vladimir thanks to his original caricatures, which he was fond of in his youth. Suteev, opting for drawing, went to study at the State Technical School. The Faculty of Arts was chosen. During his studies, he joined the animation company. "China on Fire" is a cartoon that was published in 1925 and became the debut for Suteev. It differed from its predecessors in a radically new vision of the genre. Here the animation was landscape.
In 1941, his creative career was paused. Suteev was called to the front - to defend the Fatherland. Participated in fierce battles and dangerous operations. Vladimir Grigorievich went through the entire war with honor and returned home unharmed. During the service he designed several war films.
Soyuzmultfilm
Since 1947 he worked at Soyuzmultfilm. Here real recognition came to the cartoonist. More than forty cartoons have come out from under his pen. He wrote the plot for his works himself. Subsequently, almost all of his works were filmed. Suteev designed the tales of Chukovsky and Marshak. With his help, the fairy tales of foreign writers were published: "Cipollino", "Little raccoon and the one who sits in the pond", "Dwarf Gnome and Zest".
All Suteev's cartoons are written with humor. He tried to make sure that through simple and vivid images, children comprehend the most important things in life. Through his characters, Vladimir Grigorievich spoke with children about good and evil, justice and morality. Most of his heroes are animals, endowed with human qualities: brave and inventive, kind and sympathetic. They have always found the key to children's hearts.
Working on the drawings, Suteev tried to outline the details as much as possible. He did it especially for the little ones. For a child, when he is only 3-4 years old, it is still difficult to imagine a cartoon character or a fairy tale himself. And sometimes not so much is said about the heroes in the work itself: an envious woman, an evil witch, a beautiful princess and a kind sorceress. These epithets are not enough to fully reproduce the image of the character in the imagination. Here the artist came to the rescue. Through drawings, he presented a bright, strong image that would be understandable to the baby.
His heroes are so loved by parents and children that to this day they can be found in the design of kindergartens, clinics, hairdressers, and all kinds of goods for children. They can be seen on clothes, soap, towels. The characters of Suteev's fairy tales scattered all over the world.
Personal life
It was a real, sincere, all-consuming love story that the artist carried through his entire life. Suteev was married three times, but he loved only once … and forever. His first marriage began before the war, and ended with its end. Returning home, Vladimir realized that the person with whom he connected life was completely alien to him. And divorced.
And in 1946 he met a woman who filled his life completely, without a trace. He dissolved in her, raved about her, wrote unrequited fiery letters. His muse was Tatiana Taranovich. She was beautiful, talented, and had a refined taste. Tatiana joined Soyuzsultfilm as an animator. Vladimir saw her and realized that he was missing.
Most of all it sounded like madness. Tatyana was married, she had a daughter in her family, there could be no question of any reciprocity. Suteev suffered and suffered, but continued the offensive. After two years of unsuccessful attempts, he gave up and quit his job. It was unbearable to be under the same roof with someone who would never be him. Vladimir married Sophia Ivanovna, a woman who became his faithful "fighting friend", whom he always respected and respected until her last days.
In 1983, when Vladimir and Tatiana were already widowed, they decided to get married. At that time she was 67, and he was 80. Suteev forgot about everything in the world from happiness. Together they lived for ten years, filled with tenderness, joy and happiness and died in one year. Suteev in March 1993, and Tatiana in November. Their personal fairy tale is over … but the fairy tales that Suteev gave to the world will never die.
