Popular ratings

Until February 3, 2019, everyone who wants to run for the post of the Ukrainian president will be able to submit documents to the CEC. By January 25, the CEC had registered 13 candidates. The current head of the country, Petro Poroshenko, had not yet registered with the election commission by this time. The documents of the chairman of the Batkivshchyna VO Yulia Tymoshenko, as well as the actor, producer, founder of the Studio Quarter 95, Vladimir Zelensky are under consideration.

The named three candidates for the post of the head of Ukraine by the beginning of winter are leading in the rating held among potential voters. Political scientists call P. Poroshenko and Y. Tymoshenko the main competitors in the presidential race, while the success of the comedian Zelensky is considered unexpected. According to the Center "Social Monitoring", at the end of October the party of the showman "Servant of the People" took the second place (7, 6% of the votes), while Yulia Tymoshenko gained 12% and came out on top, and P. Poroshenko received only 6, 3%.

The January survey of the "Rating" group shows other data: P. Poroshenko - 11.1%, V. Zelensky - 13.4%, Y. Tymoshenko - 20.8%, the website 24tv.ua reports. According to a poll conducted on January 10-17 by the center of Mikhail Dragomanov, the rating of the leader of Batkivshchyna was 17.4%, the current head of the country - already 17.1%. Professor Sergei Shtepa told about this to Channel Five.

Election Race Leaders: Expert Opinions

According to the media, most sociologists and experts are inclined to think: a second round is quite possible in the 2019 presidential elections in Ukraine. In particular, P. Poroshenko, whose strong point is a good party infrastructure and a formed core of the electorate, can enter it. However, whether he will become president again largely depends on the current trends in Ukrainian society, the growth and fall of the economy in the country, the newsmakers of 24tv.ua are sure.

Tymoshenko remains the main rival of the incumbent president, her election program on the new course of Ukraine is being advertised with might and main. In particular, the presidential candidate, if he wins, promises to halve tariffs for "blue fuel" for the population. Meanwhile, political analysts note some vagueness of Tymoshenko's statements. It is predicted that her calls for early accession to NATO and the European Union will alienate the pro-Russian erectorate.

Talk that Zelensky could run for the post of the Ukrainian head began after the release in 2016 of the film "Servant of the People 2", in which the actor played a similar role. A year after the release of the comedy, the party of the same name was registered by Ivan Bakanov, a lawyer close to Zelensky at Studio Kvartal 95.

Interesting results were given by a social survey of the Yaremenko Institute and "Social Monitoring": if only artists took part in the presidential race, then voters would give 20.7% of votes to Zelensky and 11%

rock musician Svyatoslav Vakarchuk. However, one should be skeptical about the artists' ability to rule the country, says ex-President of Ukraine Leonid Kravchuk, quoted by ukraina.ru.

2019 election predictions

As of January 25, 2019, 35 applications were submitted to the CEC from candidates for the presidency of Ukraine. Representatives of the "parties of peace and war" will mainly fight among themselves, says Bohdan Petrenko, deputy director of the Ukrainian Institute for the Study of Extremism.

An expert on the air of ObozTV said that the leader of the pre-election race, one way or another, will be positioned as a pro-Ukrainian candidate. Those who openly show pro-Russian sentiments will not be able to win, Petrenko is sure.

The future of Ukrainians and Russian-Ukrainian relations depend on which party wins the 2019 elections - "war" or "peace". In the first case, the country can strengthen itself as a police state, and communication and diplomatic relations with the Russian Federation will overlap. In the second case, Kiev will make certain concessions in its dialogue with Moscow in order to achieve peace at any cost.
