The beginning of the biography
The boy was born in the summer of 1947 in the United States into the family of a military pilot and a housewife. When Peter was still very young, his parents often moved from city to city and even lived in Germany for some time. Only after his father resigned and took up legal work, the family settled in Texas, where Peter went to school.
As a teenager, he became interested in music and theater. By the end of school, the young man had a choice of what to devote his further activities to, and he chose the theater, entering the University of Texas.
During his student years, Peter continued to study music and for some time performed in a jazz group, where he played the trumpet. He also appeared on the theatrical stage for the first time in his student years, and soon began to try himself in films.
Film career
Weller made her film debut in a small role in Butch and Sundance: The Early Days in 1979. The young actor was on the set with T. Berenger and W. Catt. According to film critics, the picture turned out to be ambiguous, but as a result, it was still nominated for an Academy Award.
The next roles Peter got in the film Alan Parker "As it comes around, and will respond" and in the film "Unknown Creature", where his performance was highly praised by critics.
A few years later, Peter received an invitation to play the main role in the film, which later became a cult: "The Adventures of Bakaroo Banzai in the Eighth Dimension." But he becomes famous three years later, starring in Paul Verhoeven's film "Robot Police". The success of the film was tremendous, and the audience received it with admiration. Paul Verhoeven considered several candidates for the main role in the film "Robot Police", among which were the famous: A. Schwarzenegger, T. Berenger, A. Assante and M. Ironside. For filming, a special suit was prepared that imitated a robot, so the actor had to match its dimensions. In the end, the choice fell on Peter Weller. After confirming him as the main character, Peter began long training sessions. The first day of filming showed that all his sports skills did not bring results. It was extremely difficult to operate the suit and be in it for a long time. Filming began in the summer, it was a terrible heat, which became an additional difficulty in the production process. In addition, Peter developed claustrophobia and for a long time he could not begin to fully star in the film.
After the success of the first film, it was decided to make a sequel and Weller reappears on the screens in "Robot Cop 2". But the actor refused to shoot in the third part in favor of a new project - "Naked Lunch" and he was replaced by Robert John Burke.
In the further career of the actor, there were many secondary roles, including the pictures: "Screamers", "Trap", "Great Aphrodite", "The Roof of the World", but, despite this, his work was warmly received by the audience. The most significant role was the image of Admiral Alexander Markus in the film "Star Trek: Retribution".
