In 2011, the TNT channel was turned off in Belarus, which is not the first case of exclusion of Russian channels from the broadcasting network. There are several known reasons why this happened.

Step 1
According to the official version, the termination of contractual relations with the channel due to the high cost of services led to the exclusion of TNT from the broadcasting network. The Russian company allegedly unlawfully inflated prices for its content. First, the TNT channel was closed to residents of Pinsk, then Brest, and by December 2011 it was excluded from the broadcasting network throughout Belarus and replaced by the 7TV channel.
Step 2
There is another version of the ban on TNT in Belarus. The reason for this was the repeated ridicule of the country's President Alexander Lukashenko and Belarusian citizens in the Comedy Club program and other humorous projects of the channel. The president's staff considered the statements to be rude and too personal to be considered mere jokes. A large number of Belarusians protested against the government's actions, convincing it that TNT also has quite harmless TV programs, for example, “The Battle of Psychics”, “Intuition”, youth serials, etc. However, the channel is still missing from the local broadcasting network. Fans of "TNT" have to watch their TV shows on the official website of the channel.

The shutdown of the TNT channel is not the first case of restricting the broadcasting of Russian channels in Belarus. For example, in 2007 the 24 dock TV channel was turned off due to the screening of Yury Khashchevatsky's film “An Ordinary President” about Alexander Lukashenko. In 2009, five Russian channels disappeared from the broadcasting network in Belarus at once: RTR-Planeta, Channel One - World Network, REN TV, NTV-Mir and TVTs-International. Similar measures also affected the Russian press. Thus, the newspapers Moskovsky Komsomolets, Kommersant, Newsweek and some issues of Forbes ceased to be published in the country. All of them had publications about the activities of the presidential apparatus of Belarus.
