Division of Internal Affairs
One of the largest organizations in the Russian law enforcement system is the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, headed by Police Colonel General Vladimir Kolokoltsev. According to the length of service, employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are assigned special ranks of one of three possible categories - police, internal service or justice. The starting point in all three categories is the private. The maximum is the rank of General of the Police of the Russian Federation, not yet awarded to anyone.
Special ranks of the Russian police can only be obtained by adult citizens of Russia who have joined the internal affairs bodies and have been appointed to one of the positions of the rank and file or commanding staff. In accordance with the federal Police Law, these ranks are almost identical to special military ranks. There are two exceptions - there are no corporals and marshals, and the highest rank is the General of Police of the Russian Federation. The main difference from similar military ranks is that an additional noun is spoken and written - "police".
Compositions
The youngest of the five possible staffs is the private. The rank and file police officers have no insignia. The only exceptions are cadets of educational institutions, on whose shoulder straps there is the letter "K". The junior commanding staff include sergeants, foremen and warrant officers of the police. The first have stripes (stripes) on the shoulder straps - two, three or one wide, denoting, respectively, a junior sergeant, a sergeant and a senior police sergeant.
There is one long vertical strip on the shoulder straps of the police chief. A police warrant can be distinguished by two small vertical stars, a senior police warrant has three such stars. The middle commanding staff is at the same time the first officer. It includes junior lieutenants (one small star) that have practically disappeared in the Russian army, as well as lieutenants (two horizontal stars), senior lieutenants (three) and captains (four). All shoulder straps have one vertical strip - the so-called gap.
Big stars
The senior commanding staff (two skylights) have three possible officer ranks - Major, Lieutenant Colonel, and Colonel. The shoulder straps of the first of them have one middle star, the second has two, and the third has three stars. The top commanding staff of the police, as well as in the Armed Forces, include generals wearing large stars without gaps. The Major General has one star, the Lieutenant General has two, and the Colonel General has three. Finally, the general of the Russian police has four such stars. All insignia are arranged vertically.
