The palette of films about teenage love in recent years is diverse. There are classic stories about the falling in love of young people from different strata of society, and films about the first unconscious feeling that awakens to a person of the same sex, and about the feeling of first love that breaks down on the first betrayal. I am glad that there are also films about happy love.
Teenage love stories rarely tell of happy love. Although there are fairytale films about fairytale love: a modern interpretation of old fairy tales. But more often these films are sad, because they are about growing up, which a priori cannot pass painlessly: growing up both body and soul, when pure all-encompassing love collides with everyday life, with a hostile world.
What films can you watch from released in recent years? For example: "Twilight", "Sex, Parties and Lies", "Sketches Three Together", "Terribly Handsome", "The Hanged Man's Game", "Summer Rain", "Inadequate People", "Three Meters Above Sky Level", " Cold shower”,“A hurry to love”,“Life of Adele”.
Sad stories
Summer Rain (El camino de los ingleses, 2006) is Antonio Banderas's directorial debut, perhaps nostalgic for his own youth: four friends and their girlfriends. They each have their own story, but they all try to start a truly adult life with sex, money, betrayal and death. It is almost poetic, but completely sad story.
"Sex, Parties and Lies" (Mentiras y gordas, 2009) is a film about addictions that are so attractive in youth, when you want to try everything at once, when no common sense can keep you from stupidity and troubles. In search of happiness, the heroes of the film really do not deny themselves anything. But it is impossible to find happiness if the one you love does not love you.
"Your heart may turn out to be an abandoned house or a street through which happiness sometimes passes …"
“Etudes Three Together” is a story about students of an art college. There are three of them and they are talented, romantic and passionate. And two more friends are in love with one girl and she reciprocates them both. Is threesome happiness really possible? After all, they will be together for almost a year. But it all comes to an end someday - both the study and the feeling that can be divided into three. The heroine of the film faces a difficult dilemma, with which of the two will she stay? The film has an open ending.
"The Hanged Man's Game" (El juego del ahorcado, 2008) - a girl and a boy met in early childhood, fooling around together, studying, growing up. He was her friend, and she was the only one for him from the very beginning. But once a trouble happened to a grown-up girl and the young man could not save her, but managed to take revenge. Now they were also connected by the mystery of the crime and the premonition of trouble.
Three Meters Above Sky (Tres metros sobre el cielo, 2010) - a daring, handsome young man with an explosive character, a biker from bad company and everyone's favorite, meets a touching girl from a respectable family, a student of a Catholic college. From the first moment, from the first glance, not sparks run between them, but fireworks. But the same thing that drew them to each other, it also divorced - the explosive wave of characters destroyed the fragile relationship. But maybe not forever?
"Love can't be ugly."
"Love is never ugly"
"Cold shower" (Douches froides, 2005) - a seventeen-year-old boy for whom his success in sports can become a ticket from a poor family to a better life, in love with his sexy girlfriend, to meet a guy from a wealthy family who becomes his friend. Friendship of the three develops into love-fight and farewell to youthful illusions.
"Life of Adele" (La Vie d'Adèle, 2013) - an ordinary girl from an ordinary family, from an ordinary school, with ordinary dreams of love and a little in love with an ordinary good boy, meets a girl with blue hair. And ordinariness and ordinariness are shattered to smithereens because of the feeling that arose between them.
Happy stories
"Terribly Handsome" (Beastly, 2011) is a fairy tale story carried over into modern life. A very handsome young man, for whom beauty is the measure of everything, was bewitched for his disgusting character, turned into a monster. Only the one who really loves him can disenchant him. And such, of course, there is. And they will save each other.
"Twilight" - a beautiful girl moves to a small town where her father lives. On the very first day of school, she meets a beautiful strange young man, whose eyes fascinate her, and he is captivated by her … smell. And it doesn't matter that he turns out to be a vampire and his whole family is vampires, but another boy is also in love with her - a werewolf, whose whole family is like that. The main thing is all-conquering love.
"-I have a feeling that if I leave now, you will throw yourself out of the window."
"-Would I brush my teeth if I was going to commit suicide?"
"Inadequate People" (2011) - a schoolgirl with a difficult character and a sharp tongue, living with her mother twitched and without a father, meets an adult man who suddenly became a neighbor on the staircase. It would seem a banal story: she cannot but fall in love with a beautiful and young neighbor. But a neighbor, a completely adequate person, only suffering from a slight mental disorder - sudden aggression - falls in love with a youngster. A surprisingly clean, comedy film with a single kiss in the finale.
A Walk to Remember (2002) is a film about the happiness that love gives, albeit with a sad ending, as the heroine dies. But until death she will be happy, because at school she will meet a disorderly young man, a school boy - her only love. The path to each other will not be easy for them: through initial rejection, the intrigues of rival schoolgirls, parental care of a strict father, but they will conquer everything, get married and be happy.
Teens always want to become adults as soon as possible. Their experiences are hypertrophied and acute, since everything is comprehended for the first time. And the first love is always romantic, but the first love is not always.
