Entrepreneurship is practically a disease. A person cannot sit in one place and do the same thing. In addition, in large companies you stop being a creator, a product creator, and become a kind of "politician". That is, you have to build relationships with management in order for your ideas to move forward.
And if you don’t do that, you’ll stay in the backyard. In a sense, this happened twice in Fedoseev's life: he left because the system of building relationships did not suit him.
First parting with the system
Alexei has a rather simple biography: he was born in Moscow, studied at Moscow State University, and completed his postgraduate studies. Immediately after receiving higher education, Fedoseev and a friend opened their own business related to system integration. Moreover, they worked not only in the capital - over time, fame came to excellent specialists, and they began to be invited to other cities.
Unfortunately, at that time the situation in Russia was absolutely not friendly for business: as soon as you start earning some money, pressure starts to grow on you, you have to pay racketeering. And you are already integrating into this system or doing something of your own - there was no other way out. Alexey did not want to integrate into the system and decided to go to California to look at the possibilities in the USA. There he was immediately offered the position of department manager, although he counted on the maximum system administrator. He decided to take the chance and stayed in California.
It was Microdyne, whose products Alexey knew because he had already worked with them. Then there was the work of the chief engineer at the 2Wire startup. Fedoseev is justly proud of this project: his team made a home router, which was recognized as the best in America. So gradually my career "went uphill."
Of course, not everything worked out right away, not everything went smoothly. For Alexey, the main difficulty was relationships with people, making contacts. He has an entrepreneurial streak, however, without connections, without support, without knowing "how everything works here" it is very difficult to start a business. Therefore, at first, I had to come to terms with the position of an employee. Although if you look more closely, you will notice that this work has an element of creativity and entrepreneurship: you are simply given a task, and you yourself choose how to do it.
The second point is the Russians in America. This is especially true of Silicon Valley - people here work for wear and tear. And there are many who reach some heights and begin to hang labels on others. Therefore, it was necessary to set clear boundaries in relations with colleagues, and later with subordinates. Some had to be simply ignored.
In 2006, Fedoseev had his first startup - he became a member of the 4Home team. It was an interesting project, because the founders had only an idea, and his team created a new product - a platform for a smart home. It made it possible to control the devices that work in the home. The platform also takes care of security and energy consumption through a computer or smartphone. Soon Fedoseyev took over as vice president of the company and the business was going pretty well. A few years later, the company was sold to Motorola.
This kind of work has its own peculiarities: when you graduate from one startup, you immediately start thinking about the next one. And the one who bought it tries to keep the developer as long as possible. therefore, the money for the project is given not immediately, but in parts. It happens that someone stays behind and develops the product further, improves it. So it happened with Motorola - the entire amount was paid to Alexei only two years later, and after that he was able to start a new project.
New idea
Alexey is a very interesting person. In his interviews, he said more than once that he was interested in painting, literature, music. And this is all the more strange because he has a technical education and the mindset of an inventor. However, Fedoseev is sure that it is important for a technical person to come into contact with art - then he will have many new ideas in his field.
This is probably why he came up with the idea of publishing the literary magazine Terra Nova. It was published in Silicon Valley for four whole years, then an urgent and important project took up all of the publisher's time.
In 2009, Fedoseev came up with the idea of creating 1World Online - a platform with which you can quickly analyze people's opinions on various issues in different spheres of society. It was supposed to collect data through the website, questionnaires, widgets, social networks and mobile applications.
Alexey is sure that the current Internet does not give a complete picture of what people think about this or that occasion, how they relate to different events. And this is important both for other people and for companies that work for the whole society and need to know the existing trends in it.
Underground workers
As soon as a new idea appeared, the spirit of entrepreneurship reawakened in Alexey, and he decided to part with the system again: to leave Motorola and create his own company. He told his longtime partner Damien Leostik about his idea, recruited several students and began to gradually implement the project.
They were the most real underground workers - they worked in a large company and at the same time created their own. Each made his own contribution to the common cause, and the payment was received in shares of a non-existent company. But they believed in the success of the business, and this is the main thing.
In 2012, the first version for the Android application was ready. IOS was soon added, and in 2013 - web.
Now it is a full-fledged data collection and analysis company, in which thousands of people a week vote using web applications, and this number is constantly growing, as well as the popularity of the company with customers.
