Heraldry came to us from medieval Europe with its knightly tournaments, beautiful ladies and bloody wars. Coats of arms were depicted on shields and by them they distinguished the knights from each other. Later, coats of arms appeared on the clothes of servants as a distinctive feature. Over time, coats of arms appeared not only among noble knights, but also among cities, states, craft guilds. In modern Russia, only the subjects of the Federation can officially have coats of arms. Commercial firms can register their coat of arms, but only as a trademark or logo.

When creating a personal, family coat of arms, you can go in three ways.
Search. This method is suitable for those who have aristocratic persons in their ancestors. Each noble family had its own coat of arms, a poem, if you manage to find a noble ancestor, then you can rightfully use his coat of arms. In modern legislation, there are no conditions on the extent to which a relative can use the family coat of arms.
Step 2
The path of least resistance. Contact a professional organization that creates heraldry. Order them a coat of arms and it will be issued according to all the canons. Finding such a company is easy on the Internet. Just before you agree to create your coat of arms, make sure that the company is competent enough in matters of heraldry. Otherwise, you will get just a beautiful picture, the meaning of which will be incomprehensible to connoisseurs.
Step 3
The first rule is the combination of materials and colors. In total, 7 colors are used in heraldry. Two colors of metal: gold and silver. Five colors of enamel: green, blue, red, black, purple. If the background of the coat of arms is made of metal (yellow or white), then other metal (white to yellow and vice versa) cannot be applied to it. The same goes for enamel. An exception is possible if the coat of arms is divided into sectors.
Remember the symbolism of flowers. Gold or yellow is a symbol of justice, generosity and wealth. Silver (white) is a symbol of innocence and purity. Red is bravery and courage. Blue - beauty, greatness, softness. Green - joy, abundance, hope. Purple is a symbol of power. Use only royalty. Black - humility, prudence and sadness.
Step 4
Earlier the coat of arms consisted of different details. It included a shield, mantle, helmet, crown, motto, supporter, and so on. Today, only a shield with a pattern applied to it is used. So, first you need to draw the shield field. A figure is placed on top of it. Choose a figure that represents your family's main occupation. If you have a dynasty of doctors in your family, then place a symbol of medicine - a snake with a bowl on the shield. If the military, then on the shield there will be a weapon - a sword, a spear, and so on. If desired, place your family's motto under the shield. It should be laconic, preferably in Latin.
