Biography

The future musician was born in June 1960 on the twenty-seventh in the German town of Arnsberg. From early childhood, the boy had a serious attraction to music. He loved to listen to various artists, but he especially liked the hard rock and heavy metal bands. Axel learned to play the guitar during his studies and even performed for some time at school events. After graduation, the aspiring musician did not plan to go anywhere and was determined to connect his life with heavy music.

Musical career

Rudy Pell got his first serious performance experience when he was 21 years old. He joined the newly formed rock band Steeler, in which he took over as guitarist. The group performed heavy music and was canonical for a long time, but in the mid-80s, some members of the group felt that the material they performed was not popular enough and there was a need to “soften” the music, switch to simpler genres. A serious conflict arose in Steeler, which grew stronger over time and ultimately led to Axel's departure from the group. After recording the album in 1986, he left the band, as he was sharply opposed to the commercialization of music.

For several years, Rudy Pell did not actually make music. Only by 1989 did he decide to found his own band, which continued to carry the heavy burden of "heavy metal". Axel was far from the last figure in the German hard rock scene, and when he announced that he was planning to create his own group, the musicians already known by that time responded to his cry. The first line-up of the group included vocalist Charlie Hahn, drummer Michael Jörg, Volker Kravchak and Disinger Jörg. The collective was named Axel Rudi Pell.

The debut recording of the album took place in 1989. After a long work in the studio, the album Wild obsession was released. Two years later, the band released a second collection of their songs. The group quickly gained fans, largely thanks to the well-known line-up, and their popularity gradually began to go beyond Germany.

In 1992, new vocalist Jeff Scott Soto joined the band, who brought new notes to the band's sound. The style of the band's performance in one way or another became softer over time, and the hardy "heavy metal" over the years receded into the background. Increasingly, Axeli are recording romantic ballads, as well as songs in other styles. But despite all the difficulties and obstacles, the Axel Rudi Pell group has survived to this day. The last disc was released in 2018. Due to their age, the group is reducing the size of its tours, but does not completely abandon them and continues to give concerts.

Personal life

The famous musician is married to Christine Rudy Pell. Their wedding took place in May 2006; by the standards of show business, the celebration was rather modest. Only 130 guests attended the wedding of Christina and Axel.
