This art museum has incorporated one of the world's largest collections of Russian painting. The State Tretyakov Gallery was founded in 1856 by the Moscow merchant and philanthropist Pavel Tretyakov and bears his name.
The Tretyakov Gallery displays paintings that symbolically reflected entire eras: the works of Kustodiev, Vrubel, landscapes of Levitan. The museum regularly hosts exhibitions of Russian and foreign art collections.
Ticket offices are open daily from 10:00 to 19:00, except Mondays. Entrance fees vary for children, adults, schoolchildren and students. Certain categories of citizens are granted the right to visit the Gallery's expositions free of charge. The museum also provides excursion services for groups.
In the excursion department, you can purchase individual passes for cycles consisting of four excursions. So, for children 7-9 years old there are cycles "Walks in the Tretyakov Gallery" and "Conversations about Art". "Walks" include excursions under the names "The Magic World of the Museum", "Journey to Ancient Russia", "In the Far Away Kingdom" and "What Artists Paint Pictures About". Conversations include The Seasons, The House and Its Inhabitants, The Secrets of a Portrait, and An Invitation to the Table.
Children aged 10-12 years old can get on "Acquaintance with types of fine arts" and "Acquaintance with genres of fine art". The first cycle is designed to tell children about painting, graphics, sculpture and arts and crafts. The second cycle examines the genres of everyday painting, portrait, landscape and historical painting.
Excursion groups are formed twice a year, in May and November. During the same periods, subscriptions are sold. Adults wishing to accompany children on excursions must purchase admission tickets. There is an author's annual subscription for five-six-year-old children and their parents. On Sundays, once a month, there are two-part lessons. First, in one of the halls of the Tretyakov Gallery, children and parents get acquainted with the presented paintings. In the second part of the lesson, children draw in the studio with a teacher-artist, and parents learn more about the history of fine art and receive guidelines for effective and "panoramic" introduction of children to the beautiful.
