The Nativity Fast precedes the big holiday - the day of the birth of Jesus Christ. Fasting lasts forty days. Therefore, in the Church charter, it is called the Forty Day. The spell (eve of fasting) falls on the day of veneration of the Holy Apostle Philip. For this reason, the post is also called Filippov. And Christians at this time are prescribed rather strict restrictions on food intake.

Instructions
Step 1
On all days of fasting, it is advisable not to eat dairy products, meat, eggs and products containing these ingredients.
Step 2
From the beginning of the fast until December 19 inclusive on Mondays, hot vegetable food without oil is recommended. Dry food (bread, nuts, etc.) is advised on Wednesdays and Fridays. On Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, fish, hot vegetable food with vegetable oil and a little wine (Cahors) may appear on the fasting table.
Step 3
On the feast of the Entry into the Temple of the Virgin Mary (December 4), hot vegetable dishes with vegetable oil, fish and a little wine are allowed.
Step 4
From December 20 to January 1, inclusive, on Mondays, hot plant food without oil is important, and on Wednesdays and Fridays - dry food. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, hot plant foods with vegetable oil are required, but a little wine is allowed. On Saturdays and Sundays, fasting people eat hot vegetable food with vegetable oil, fish, and also a moderate amount of wine.
Step 5
From the second day of the new year to January 6, that is, during the so-called "forefeast of the Nativity of Christ", there is dry eating on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, Christians prepare hot vegetable dishes without oil, and on Saturdays and Sundays - the same hot vegetable dishes, but with vegetable oil.
Step 6
Christmas Eve (January 6) is a particularly strict fast day. It is best to eat oozy (koliv) - sweet porridge. It is advisable to eat it only after the evening service.
