Many people in modern Russia do not live where they are registered. Often, they are not even in the region in which they are assigned. This creates certain problems with obtaining official documents, for example, a passport. So how do you get a passport in another city?

Step 1
If you work in a different city where you plan to apply for a passport, make sure to fill out the paperwork for the Federal Migration Service (FMS) in advance. To do this, take the application forms from the official website of the FMS of Russia. They are posted in the section "Document processing". Print the required form in duplicate. Fill out the part of it that is intended for you - name, passport details, purpose of obtaining the document, places of work and study over the past ten years. In the "Address" section, indicate your actual coordinates, if you do not live by registration. Then submit both copies of the questionnaire to your organization, where it must be certified.
Step 2
Find the branch of the FMS of Russia closest to you. At the same time, it does not matter where you are registered or actually live - you must accept your documents in any department. In some cities, preliminary registration for submission of documents is provided. You can choose the time for your visit on the FMS website in your region.
Step 3
Contact the FMS department with a general civil passport, questionnaires, military ID and birth certificates of children, if you want to enter them in your passport. You should also have a receipt for payment of the state fee with you. If the application is completed correctly, you will be accepted. If you are applying for a passport in a place other than where you are registered, then the paperwork may take three months instead of the standard one. This is due to the fact that the FMS will have to request data in another city.
Step 4
You can also monitor the readiness of your passport using the website of the regional department of the FMS. To do this, remember the number of your application, which the employee will tell you when submitting the documents. Then follow the link "Check the readiness of the passport" on the FMS website. If it is ready, then the application number will be in the appropriate heading.
Step 5
If after three months no information has appeared on the site, contact the FMS in person in order to find out how things are with the execution of your document.
