This woman became famous for the fact that during the Civil War she was the leader of military detachments, fought on the side of the "Makhnovists" on an equal basis with men. Maria Nikiforova was affectionately called Marusya by her comrades-in-arms, and she lived at the same time as Marusya Klimova. Despite the fact that some versions of the song "Murka" speak in favor of this, this point of view is recognized as unlikely. Most likely, Maria Nikiforova and Marusya Klimova are two different people.
