All church ordinances should be performed by believers with a pure soul. Confession and communion washes a person from the filthiness of sins that he committed after the sacrament of baptism. For repentance to be considered accomplished, a believer must realize his sinfulness and sincerely repent.
Instructions
Step 1
You need to prepare for confession in advance, remember all your sins and write them down on a piece of paper so as not to forget to mention. You can give this list to your confessor for reading, but it is better to tell about your sins out loud. Don't talk about background, repent with all your heart. Confession is not a listing of sins, but a desire to be cleansed from them.
Step 2
Before confession, it is advisable to make peace with your neighbors and ask for forgiveness from those offended by you. Find out when the ordinance of confession is taking place in the church. If the temple does not have a daily service, check the timetable.
Step 3
Confession is usually performed after the evening service or in the morning before the beginning of the liturgy. One must not be late for its beginning, since this sacrament begins with the reading of the rite, in which the person who wishes to confess participates. A woman during her period should not go to the temple for repentance.
Step 4
You cannot share the list of sins in order to tell about them another time. It is advisable to confess with one confessor. In large churches, due to the multitude of repenting ones, the priest is not able to accept confession individually. Then the most common sins are listed and people repent of them, then they take turns approaching the confessor under the prayer of absolution.
Step 5
If you have never been to confession or have not confessed for several years, you need to choose a parish where only a private Sacrament is performed. The grave sin that you kept silent about at the general confession will remain unforgiven.
Step 6
After that, the repentant kiss the cross and the Gospel on the lectern, take the blessing from the confessor for communion. You must prepare especially for the sacrament of communion. This process is called fasting. It lasts a week, or at least three days. Fasting should be observed at this time. Eliminate light foods from your diet - meat, dairy products and eggs.
Step 7
Give up entertainment and physical intimacy. Follow the morning and evening prayer rules, add to them the reading of the Penitential Canon. Attend evening service on the eve of communion. Before reading prayers for the coming sleep, read three canons: penitent to Jesus Christ, the Mother of God and the Guardian Angel. Before praying for holy communion in the morning, read the corresponding canon.
Step 8
Eating, drinking and smoking are prohibited from midnight. Children under seven years of age can eat. A woman should not put on makeup and take communion during her period.
Step 9
When the priest comes out with the Holy Gifts, the sacraments must bow down to the ground on a weekday and a half-length bow on a holiday or Sunday. Listen to the prayer carefully and repeat it to yourself. After the liturgy, fold your hands on your chest - right over left, go to the Holy Chalice. First come the children, then the men, after them the women come up.
Step 10
State your name and accept the Holy Gifts. Kiss the rim of the Holy Chalice and step back to the table for taking a wash. This must be done so that not a single particle of the Body of Christ remains in the mouth.
Step 11
Pray in the temple until the end of the service. Listen carefully to the prayers of thanks. Spend the rest of the day in a pious way: do not waste your time on idle chatter, do not watch television programs, and refrain from intimacy.
