Step 1
Check out the legal framework. Search activity in Russia is rather strictly regulated. First of all, you need a law "On perpetuating the memory of those killed in the defense of the Fatherland." Search work related to the evacuation of remains, weapons and military equipment should be carried out in the presence of employees of the FSB, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the military registration and enlistment office. Therefore, it is better to inform these organizations immediately about the proposed creation of a search detachment.
Step 2
Gather a team of like-minded people. If there are few people willing to participate, it is better to join an existing search squad. This will provide an opportunity to get acquainted with its structure and features of the organization of search activities. If there are a lot of prospective participants, start with a general meeting. Discuss the areas of work, possible name and candidacy of the commander. Be sure to draw up a protocol. Please provide the exact address of the venue. Record all participants in the meeting with last names, first names, patronymics and passport details. The protocol must also indicate the accepted name, surname, name and patronymic of the commander. Make a decision to join the Union of Search Units. It is best to decide on joining right away. It is this organization that is authorized by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation to conduct search work.

Develop a squad charter. Indicate the goals and objectives of your organization, structure. Determine what each team member is responsible for and what their responsibilities are. Make a work plan. Plan not only military archaeological expeditions, but also archival and local history work. This is especially important if the detachment is of different ages and contains minors. They should not be taken on military-archaeological expeditions, since they are associated with dangerous work, but they can also lead the historical and local history direction.

Think about where and how the squadron will learn safety techniques. It is essential that each participant knows what to do if a suspicious item is found. Invite a specialist from the military unit that deals with the disposal of such items. It is quite possible that such a person will be found among those who want to join the detachment.

Make a list of the equipment you need. You will need camping and search equipment, tools. It is better to acquire it centrally, especially if the detachment is large.
