The original creations have made many architects famous. However, such buildings helped to become famous and the cities that adorned such houses. Thus, Polish Sopot is known not only for its famous festival, but also for its unique attraction. A striking example of an extraordinary architectural solution was called Krzywy Domek, that is, Crooked House.
The original building is not at all the result of experiments with Photoshop. Poles joke that you can not pay attention to the dancing house, just having a good drink.
Creativity
At the first glance at the amazing structure, you can decide that the house melted under the rays of the sun or an optical illusion in front of your eyes, which completely distorted the real structure. However, the dancing house actually stands on the Heroes of Monte Cassino street.
The design was named due to the lack of even corners. The original idea belongs to architects Zalevsky and Shotinsky. They created the project in 2004, inspired by drawings by Per Oskar Dahlberg and Jan Marcin Schanzer, who illustrated books for children.
The history of the Crooked or Dancing House began with an order for the construction of the Resident shopping center. As a result, the owner of the complex dreamed of not seeing a standard building, but a place that attracts crowds of people, which is constantly heard.
The original project helped the creators to realize many unusual ideas. As a result, Krzywy Domek gained worldwide fame. A lot of materials were used for decoration, including stone and glass, and the enamel plates liken the roof to a curved dragon's back.
Original and functional
Asymmetry is the main feature of all openings. The whimsical outlines of windows and doors give the building the appearance of a fairytale hut. The Crooked House has become one of the most amazing cultural sites not only in Poland, but throughout Europe.
An area of 4,000 square meters is sufficient to accommodate commercial establishments on all floors. On the first one there is a shopping center. There was a place in it for shops, and for several cozy cafes, and even for a salon with slot machines. There is also the Wall of Fame, an analogue of the Hollywood landmark. Stars sign on her Sopot "namesake" during visits to the complex.
Polish radio stations are located on the second floor. There are also museums of Contemporary Crafts and Maritime Museum. The entire third floor has been given over to the cultural and entertainment zone. Guests can visit youth clubs and pubs here. In such a place, tourists will not be bored.
Confession
The doors of the Crooked House are open for those who wish the whole day, although the shopping center closes in the evening, giving way to pubs and clubs. But in the dark, the building looks fantastically impressive, thanks to the illumination.
Since 2009, the building has been included in the seven wonders of the Tricity. In addition to Sopot, it includes Gdynia and Gdansk. Krzywy Domek, according to the results of a survey by The Village of Joy magazine, topped the rating of the fifty most original buildings in the world.
Conceived as a tribute to the work of Polish illustrators, the structure has proudly ranked among the most amazing houses thanks to its striking and unusual appearance. No tourist leaves Sopot without photographs of the dancing house.
