In mid-July 2012, supporters of Nikita Mikhalkov's political views registered a new party, which they called “For Our Motherland”. The eminent director himself declares that he has nothing to do with this party, and even more so he is not going to join its ranks.
The program of the new Russian party is based on Nikita Mikhalkov's manifesto "Right and Truth", which he published back in 2010. In addition, its ideology includes the works of such great Russian philosophers as Ivan Ilyin, Pavel Florensky, Nikolai Berdyaev. The program also included theses of the legendary statesman Pyotr Stolypin.
The For Our Motherland Party was headed by Mikhail Lermontov. He calls himself a direct descendant of the famous Russian poet. But many skeptics do not think that this is true, since Mikhail Lermontov did not have children. No less pretentious symbols act as the symbolism of the new political association: the eight-pointed star of the Mother of God, which adorned the banners of the warriors of Ancient Rus, and the St. George banner in black and gold tones.
Mikhalkov officially stated that he did not consider himself a politician, did not force anyone to create this party, and the manifesto he wrote was not its program at all. The director explained that the faction is based on a kind of quintessence of all his reflections and previously voiced thoughts about the situation in Russia at one time or another. At the same time, he is very glad that there were intelligent people who were inspired by his statements. Mikhalkov considers them to be new conservatives, real patriots and statesmen.
Mikhail Lermontov called the new political structure a party of traditional values of the Russian state. In particular, its supporters, like Mikhalkov himself, consider the events of 1917 a national tragedy of the state, as a result of which the true spirit of the Russian people was lost. Also, party members insist on mandatory control of morality in the media. The political association has already passed the required registration procedure with the Ministry of Justice.
