The Roman Empire, as you know, was quite developed. A high-level civilization was combined with a patriarchal way of life, the ancient Roman population, as can be judged from the records of past years, was slow, unhurried. In fact, the inhabitants of Rome really had nowhere to rush, since half of the calendar days are holidays.
Instructions
Step 1
In Rome, 182 holidays were celebrated; on these days, theatrical performances and feasts were organized. Baked swans, oysters were served on the table, exotic fruits and unusual products were brought from other countries. Treats were organized according to the principle of "buffet", during breaks between performances, guests could have a snack.
Step 2
The day of the average Roman began at sunrise, the occupations of the inhabitants of Ancient Rome were varied: artel workers and artisans worked, the poor tried to get the help they needed, and the wealthy townspeople had business conversations, received servants, and went to visit.
Step 3
During the day, transportation in the city was prohibited, with rare exceptions, all transportation was postponed at night. In the dark, the city was filled with the noise of moving carts and the shouts of the drivers. However, not everyone slept at night: as a rule, they worked in Rome in the morning, lunch was postponed to the evening, often it dragged on until late at night. Before dinner, the Romans went to public baths, they were either free, or the entrance fee was minimal. There were also establishments for the nobility in Ancient Rome, which were visited by the rich for leisure, matchmaking of children, negotiating, etc.
Step 4
Both in the past and today, Rome is a favorite city. If you ask a Roman if he would like to live somewhere else, he will be sincerely surprised, in his deep conviction there is no better place. Rome lives with relaxation, delicious food and entertainment. This is a place where there is always time to sit in a cafe chatting with a friend, and there is not always an hour to work. And today the Romans are also in no hurry, like their ancestors - this is a city of delights and pleasure.
